Who watches Blue Bloods?

I've watched all five seasons on NetFlix and watch for the guns in use by various actors. I was hooked by an early episode where a bad guy attacks Selleck's daughter, the assistant DA. Selleck show up, says "Get your hands off my daughter!" The guy turns toward Selleck, who shoots him in the head. No debate, no negotiation, just a good shot at the right time. I wonder if some of the reality of the show (not always, it is TV) is based on the fact that Selleck is gun guy in real life.

selleck

I saw Selleck at the Wannamacher gun show in Tulsa a few years ago. He wasn't there for autographs, but was "shopping" it seemed. He was shorter than I expected him to be! I text my wife and she was thrilled!!

We both like the show for the most part. I'm pretty sure I know why she likes it as it is the only cop show that she'll watch.

If I ever see another CSI show ... ugh!!

Well, I'm gonna take a slightly different stance than many. I think that it is great TV, Selleck is wonderful as the head of the family and I really love the concept of a family dinner every week. I love Bridgette Moynahan and think that Tom Brady made a big mistake not marrying her. Donnie's character is a little rough but that is the character not the actor.

Overall, it's a neat story about the intertwined lives of a good Irish catholic family whose basic family business is law enforcement. They range from Grandpa who was not afraid to use a nightstick in his day when a perp needed a "tune up" to grandson Jamie the law student that is more PC.

They also try to bring into the show events that are happening currently in life and show how they deal with these issues as a family.

I watch every Friday night or if out set the DVR. :D

I've watched it regularly since it started, initially because I am a Tom Selleck fan. I think it's just good entertainment. I think the Donnie Walberg is the best part of the show. If only it was real! One family that solves all the crime of NYC.

Of course it's Hollywood fantasy. Would you watch that show if it was actual real law enforcement? Where nothing really exciting happens for weeks!

I've never watched the show, but if they wanted it to be anything like Philly PD then they would probably need more footage of cops sleeping on the hallway benches in our court house. There's also the paperwork....lots and lots of paperwork.

Back in 99-00 when I worked with some 8th dist officers. I was with this one cop and there was a call for burglary in progress. I look at her like ...."and"......and all she says is "I don't respond to anything in progress". My jaw dropped. I'm thinking to myself that she's basically a rolling secretary!

Another officer, who was old school, liked to clear mall rats that hung out by the mall entrances by driving his 4700 # Crown Victoria at full speed up the entrance ramp where these kids hung out!

Just some more realistic things they may want to add to a TV SHOW

I like the show and have followed it on Netflix. Butt I'm sick of Don Wahlburg. He's on Blue Bloods, in every episode as lead character, and been in every other movie for the last ten years. Enough already.

There are five main characters in Blue Bloods, and Wahlberg, not Selleck, is the main character. It's basically his show. So why wouldn't he be in every episode?

Matter of fact, of the five listed main characters, Selleck is listed fifth in order of importance.

And Donnie Wahlberg hasn't been in a movie since 2011.

The best thing he's ever done was his portrayal of Carwood Lipton in all ten episodes of Band of Brothers, back in 2001.

I read that Brady has a child with Brigitte Moynahan, but never married her.

How do you feel about the woman that he did marry? I liked the way that she stood up for him when incompetent teammates kept dropping the ball that he passed to them and they lost a game. It got her in hot water with football fans and the team, but I thought, !brava!, Gisele! I liked the way that she supported her man.

BTW, Gisele Bundchen Brady is worth a lot more in the bank than Tom is. I don't think she models a lot now, but she has a line of beachwear back in her native Brazil and makes a TON of money off of it. But she is or was also by far the best paid model in the business. May still be. I've always wondered why, but that's the case.

Maybe Moynahan (sp?) is easier going in real life, but her character on, Blue Bloods is laced a little tight and too feminist PC for my taste.

As for Wahlberg, he does seem as rough and uncultured in person as he is on TV. But he and Jenny seem well matched, and I wish them well. BTW, Jenny is an author several times over, as well as a TV and radio personality. She can be quite funny, if often a bit crude.

Selleck has a lot more class than Wahlberg does, I think.

That is correct. She named him John Edward Thomas Moynahan. Therefore his initials spell out JET, the Patriot's biggest divisional rival from NYC.

I think that she may have been a little bitter at first although they seem to get along now if you believe the Hollywood rags. Tom spends a lot of time with Jack and appears to be a good absent T dad.

As an add to my former post, Tom Selleck is also a huge pro gun advocate and I would watch his show for no other reason than that. But then again, I still don't buy anything sold by Gillette since they supported anti gun organizations back in the 70's. But that's a different story. ;)

One of the few worthwhile shows on television that I watch! ;)
I like Chicago Fire as well!

I think it is not unusual for the main character to be listed last in the credits.

Not the main character, but the biggest star/name on show. That's the way they usually run credits (out of respect).

I would have to be dragged away kicking and screaming from watching anything Tom Selleck does. I am very grateful for his involvement in the NRA. Any older western he has done is a good watch. The Jesse Stone series was interesting. I think the casting on "Bluebloods" is excellent and I wouldn't change a thing. I watch the show every week and the reruns on other channels which are sometimes broadcast as a continuous day of episodes.
