new coffee

Someone, I think that it was our own Acadian Attorney (CL to some of y'all), recommended Trader Joe's French Roast. Works for me. It's not the best coffee I ever had, but it's the best I can actually identify so that I can go buy some.

Since my wife passed away, I've been working through a stock of Maxwell House. I know that it's not acceptable by itself, but seems to blend well with TJ's F Roast. I had been using only 1/3 MH, but recently tried 2/3. At least as good.

I'm about to run out of MH. I guess I'm reaching some kind of critical point in my search for coffee nirvana, if I'm not mixing my metaphors even worse than my coffee. I'll keep you posted if I accidentally find out that anyone (GAF).

BTW, brewing for myself, I always use a French press, yielding about 32 ounces, my normal morning (and only) consumption.

I love a good coffee thread, this is the 3rd one I've read through and I tried a couple of the suggestions. I see several people suggest 8 O'Clock and I tried two. I didn't care for the original because I like bold coffee but the Italian Roast is right up my alley. I have it stocked on the shelf now with Starbucks French Roast, Sumatra, and Verona.

An acquaintance who owns the Leopard Forest Coffee Company in Travelers Rest, SC and a coffee plantation in Zimbabwe, recommends a Full City Roast for the best full flavor coffee. He feels that the temperature attained producing a French Roast, burns the bean and destroys the flavor.
Earlier in this thread, I posted a link for a Full City Blend called Redline, from a custom roaster I've used for years, after much side by side testing.

Thanks. Maybe I'll try that.
