Once I Saw Chuck at the Phoenix Airport.
He not only looked like a 'hit' man,
He looked like a I've been run over by a truck man.

I forgot-the Dancing-Machine passed away some time ago:

As for the Unknown Comic--I guess his whereabouts are still a mystery?

When I was in High School, me and my buddy Roger Fuller would run to his house after school and catch the Gong Show. We'd watch it with his Mother and older, adult brother.

One day as we were watching the Gong Show, Roger and his brother started arguing, arguing turned to wrestling, and soon both were involved in a knock down fist fight! Mom tried to intervene, and she got knocked over into the couch. Roger's Father had been napping in the bedroom, hearing the commotion he rushed out of the bedroom, naked as a Jaybird, and started kicking the two brothers rolling around on the floor. Dad suddenly realized there was a guest in the house, me, and nakedly sprinted back into the bedroom.

This tickled Rogers' Mom to death, she started laughing hysterically, this ended the fight. Both brothers started laughing, I was laughing, even Dad was laughing when he came back out of the bedroom with some clothes on.

Best Gong Show watching ever....

The Unknown Comic was actually comedian/actor/writer Murray Langston. Even without the bag, he was a very funny and popular guest on many 70s and 80s TV shows as well as a prolific TV & movie writer.
Last heard, he had retired and moved back to his native Canada.

Yeah, I liked the Gong Show too. :D

Funny,.....

I remember some really funny stuff on that show, to me the unknown comic is immortal.

I was kinda peeved when a guy started to sing opera and was clanged immediately by several panelists who I thought were rather cheap excuses for human beings. I wanted to hear the guy. Definitely not your cup of tea if looking for a show with some class.

Anyway, so long Chuck, great show if looking for cheap laughs.

"CLAP..and you ain't seen nothin' yet!"

Loved that show. So many great gags. Anyone recall the night Jaye P. Morgan got out of hand? Classic '70s TV moment.

One of the acts that appeared went on to become a pretty important band in the 1980s New Wave movement, Oingo-Boingo. The singer and songwriter of that band, Danny Elfman, went on to become a composer of motion picture soundtracks. You've heard his work many, many times since then, believe it. Pretty much every Tim Burton movie, the theme for The Simpsons, Good Will Hunting, the great Midnight Run with DeNiro and Grodin -- it goes on and on. The Gong Show launched him.

The one thing about Barris most find hard to believe: his breakthrough into showbiz was penning the hit song Palisade Park that Freddy Cannon charted to #3 in 1962. I mean, Barris had been working in a steel foundry -- what a move!
