In the other brands forum, we're discussing full tang vs. narrow tang knives. Some there made erroneous posts about Navy MK II knives.

Many pilots carried private purchase knives. Look at the knives on the vests of the Panther pilots in this movie clip. Lt. Brubaker has a Western brand knife often called a "shark knife." The CAG has a PAL RH-36.

I thought many here might like seeing those knives.. But a lot will want to see the clip to see the F-9F Panthers in action

The knives are very likely choices for USN pilots in the Korean War.

You can also see the entire movie on YouTube. At least, they list it.

This is a good movie.

I've got my Dad's USN WWll MKll Navy knife in it's original hard gray sheath. While the original black oxide finish is now worn off it is still incredibly shaving sharp and fully intact. When I was growing up and saw him use and wear this knife it seemed like an ugly duckling compared to the fancy Stag & Ivory handled shinny knives my friends and I had, so I didn't think much of it at the time. Now I cherish it like a custom made Randall. Although it is just a left over and mass produced war relic, it was made out of really tough and high quality products. Well see how many of todays knives actually stand up against the test of time and use. I'm sure his MKll was NOT babied!

My Dad had a mki he used his entire life. It was by far his favorite.

When I asked him about it, he said it was tough to find hunting knife that could slice an onion, or a clove of garlic.

The bottom row in the picture is an RH 34, 35, 36 & 37. Then my dad's mki, you can see how badly worn the sheath is.
