I had one in a tree about 100 yards from my house an hour or so ago. It looked like he had chased a squirrel right into its nest and was sitting by the nest and sounding off. He flew away before I could show him to my wife. Those are beautiful creatures!

DDT almost exterminated them. Since restrictions on it they appear to be making a comeback. We're starting to see them here in South Mississippi. As a youth who hunted a lot I never saw them. Now we have a nesting pair not far from my house. I saw one last summer fly over my house holding a rattlesnake. My brother Louisiana Joe sent me a pic a couple of years ago with one catching a nutria.

I have one that cruises the canal behind my house now and then, but I find the ospreys much more interesting. A pair must little ones because they are hitting the canal hard all day long.

Beautiful amazing birds, but keep small pets inside.

The National Eagle Center in Wabasha MN is only about 30 miles from my house. If anyone is traveling the river roads of the northern Mississippi River it’s a great stop.

On a side note I have road my motorcycle on the river road from St. Paul to New Orleans. The most scenic stretch is the northern section with it’s high bluffs and the road is actually along the river banks.

You were trying to feed your wife to an eagle? That's cold! :D
