Learned something new this morning watching the old TV show PALADIN.

All these years I never knew the first name of PALADIN, played by Richard Boone..

His first name was right there in front of us all, all these years and never knew it.

His first name was/is....................

Did a lot of searching and apparently Paladin had no first name

"Paladin" wasn't even his real name to begin with. It was given to him by his mentor the the episode "Genesis".

I will say this...and despite Richard Boone saying otherwise "officially"... that his name was Hec Ramsey.

No one will ever truly know for sure. It's like Patrick McGoohan's "The Prisoner" back in the 60's. McGoohan denied that his character of #6 was not a character from his pervious series. Only if you watch "Secret Agent" aka "Danger Man" you can quite obviously make out they are the same character.

I though Ramsey was in a series long after Paladin was over! If I remember correctly he was bringing science into crime fighting!

I tried to find the website again that mentioned "Bobby" and couldn't find it. in another place I found that it was never mentioned.

then my computer locked up and decided to do updates. I'm not having much fun right now so I don't really care what his first name is

IIRC Richard Boone was definitely a thirsty man and by the mid 60s his face showed it. The movie with Paul Newman playing the white Apache had Boone as the bad guy, Grimes. He looked pretty boozed up in that one. I was once a bartender and it's not hard to spot the really hard drinkers.

“John” as in the name of this forums user “Paladin85020”.

BTW, John is very gifted writer with excellent articles about many different fire arms!

My father worked in broadcasting back in the day and knew Richard Boone very well. All I remember him ever saying about Boone was that he was the ugliest man ever.

Well it might have hurt to look in the mirror in the morning but.........

at 4pm, putting his pay check in the bank, sure made up for it !!

Lots of good shoot um up shows back then......... and this was one of my "Got to watch" shows.

I still say, Dale Robertson had the best "Roll" on a western hat, though......... Roy had the best looking pistol grips........ and
how could you not like a side kick like Poncho.

We are both fans of Have Gun Will Travel and Hec Ramsey. I love that in both Boone's character while great with fist and gun he is also a thinking person who uses smarts and wits. The kit or trunk he had in Hec Ramsey was great with him using forensics to solve crimes and not merely gunplay or fisticuffs.

One of the kicks I always got after watching The Prisoner was how many others had a slap yourself on the head "wow I could have had a V8" this is so obvious I should have gotten it moments because the who is Number One mystery is answered in the opening credits during the question and answer portion throughout the series:

"Who is Number One?".

"You ARE, Number Six.".

Was not Richard Boone a champion boxer in the U.S. Navy during
WW2? Favorite movie roles Hombre and The Shootist.

Those are made up stories, folks. I recall an episode of the original Star trek, the girl asks Spock his first name he tells her:
"You couldn't pronounce it."
