A great line from the movie "Platoon". What special Kentucky windage are you having this holiday season?

Some Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare for me.

You are aware that‘s the same bourbon, just that Eagle Rare is about three years older and filled on the hand-bottling line?

Got to see that on my tour of Buffalo Trace a few years ago. I even caught the hand doing the bottling in my photo

I always keep a bottle of Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace in my cabinet - however out of the two the Eagle Rare is the better one IMO.

A few other excellent Bourbons are below for those willing to try them:

Widow Jane
Wild Turkey Rare Breed
Jack Daniels Sinatra Select (yes I know it's Tennessee Whisky)
Elija Craig
Knob Creek Cask Strength
Bib & Tucker
Basil Hayden
Jack Daniels Single Barrel
Woodford's Reserve Double Oaked
Woodford's Reserve - regular one

BTW, Bourbon does NOT need to be from Kentucky to be a legit Bourbon! I do believe Bourbon was actually born in Pennsylvania! What classify's Bourbon is the following:

The Federal Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits state that Bourbon made for U.S. consumption[21] must be:

*Produced in the United States[22]

*Made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn[23]

*Aged in new, charred oak containers[23]

*Distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume)[23]

*Entered into the container for aging at no more than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume)[23]

*Bottled (like other whiskeys) at 80 proof or more (40% alcohol by volume)[24]

If it's called Bourbon, IT MUST BE MADE IN KENTUCKY! Other wise, it's corn/wheat/rye whiskey.

No. Commonly accepted misconception. Probably supported by the fact that over 90% of all bourbon is indeed Kentucky Straight Bourbon.

But as Chief38 posted above, the term “bourbon” by itself is legally (and culturally) protected as made in America, but not just in Kentucky.

If you really want to start a manure-slinging storm, you can legitimately argue that Tennessee whiskey such as Jack Daniel’s is bourbon, too, since according to Tennessee law it needs to meet all federal legal requirements for bourbon.

I think that if you try Bib & Tucker and Widow Jane, you will no longer believe that statement! Bib & Tucker is from TN and Widow Jane is from Brooklyn, NY (believe it or not).

My father in Marin county, Calif. would order a case of
bourbon from Louisville Ky every year but not just the normal stuff.

It is rated at 84% but when old enough to drink, I thought there was better stuff out there to sip on but my father always added a section of real lemon, to his high ball and 7 up.

I have a new one to try after church tonight. My wife gave me a bottle of Belle Meade for Christmas. I have some backups if it is not to my liking. I have in stock, Weller Antique, Weller Special Reserve, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Henry Mckenna 10yr and Elijah Craig. As a matter of fact I like bourbon.

keith44spl, I just tried that whiskey about a week ago and I like it. I'm drinking it and Knob Creek Single Barrel this Holiday season on the rocks.

Oh, yeah! I'm into my second double, over rocks, of Elijah Craig. And, before the night is over I may have a Knob Creek, over rocks for a night cap.
