I remember that he said, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, because boy, if you're not home by then you're in big trouble."

We saw him at the Waltons Art Center in Fayetteville Ar a few years ago he could certainly hold you attention if had been around cattle. The one statement he made that stuck with me was "he had been talking with someone from NPR public radio ad he had said "I'm a large animal vet" she said funny I thought you would be bigger. Jeff
So sorry to hear that. His wife said that he was suffering from blood leukemia and a form of dementia. What a great talent. He will definitely be missed. He authored the last page column in Western Horseman for many years...the page I turned to first whenever my issue arrived.
I always enjoyed his sense of poetic humor. he will be missed.

Know a Dude who went to Vet School with Baxter.
Was Baxter funny in Vet School?
No Body was funny in Vet School!
A while back I was over in Benson, AZ and asked folks about Baxter.
One waitress said she knew his Wife.
Another Waitress said he comes in here all the time!
We love him here!
Yes it is kind of a Cowboy Eatery. It gets Two Thumbs up from me.
It’s downtown.
