Do you get sort of lethargic after having your eyes dilated? Got back from my major inspection yesterday and could barely stay comatose.;)

I was a little sleepy from my annual Medicare exam. I used a $1 bottle of Equate eye drops for red eyes when I got home. Applied the drops every hour. In 4 hours I had clear vision again, after 8 hours pupils were normal.

I physically felt better after the 2nd application of drops.

I think it’s the fact that you can’t focus your eyes for 8-10 hours and tends to make me squint to try to focus. Why not take a nap, can’t focus very good anyway. When I get my eyes dialated the bright sunshine just really bothers me to the extent I stay inside until my pupils start coming back to normal. Next day all is well.

I usually get my eyes dilated at my every 2 year eye exams and they take pictures and send the results to my PCP. The only problem I ever had was it always seemed to be on a sunny day, and sunglasses were a must, but if I ever felt lethargic or whatever, I don't remember. I'm only (?) 66, but I'm kinda lethargic anyways compared to 20 years ago, so right now I may not notice any difference. But no, except for the bright sunny days, I've never noticed anything. I could see how it might make some people maybe have an upset stomach or something. I will try the eyedrops next time, though; couldn't hurt and good idea.

The most common drug used to dilate your eyes is atropine sulfate. Atropine usually causes an increase in heart rate, and may cause dry mouth. At the doses given to dilate your eyes, any side effects should be minimal, if any at all, from systemic absorption.

I had my Eyes Dilated Daily a long time ago
and it would Literally Knock me out on occasion

I would think they have a better Med Now
But who knows

Not lethargic but slight nausea/motion sickness or slight hungover feeling. Probably affects everyone differently.

At least once a month. next week in fact with needle in both eyes. It does mke it hard to focus and see well. Otherwise known as stressing you out

I have been dilated often and never experienced any type of Tsetse fly reaction. I'm not saying it's not possible but with my high tolerance to state alterers they would have to use a two liter dropper.

I tried, honestly, to stay away from anything I may have done back in the 70s, but my tolerance is well established. Not proud, more kinda ashamed, but I regret nothing. I’m healthy and every solar trip is a gift, or blessing. I don’t have to read government literature to know when my kids are, or were indulging.
There was a Dr. Hook song, I was (something) and I missed it. Good excuse…not really

My doc uses a different technology and I have not been dilated in several years. I was really sensitive to that stuff, too. I do not recall anything but being hyper-sensitive to light. I have yearly exams looking for diabetic damage, and so far so good.

My eye's get dilated a couple times a year, and going out into the bright sun then driving home is a challenge. I usually try to spend the rest of the day indoors.
