THIS is why I drink Islay single malts

From Dr. Google

What is the healthiest whiskey?
To get the most health benefits from whisky, drink single malt — it contains more antioxidants and ellagic acid than blended whiskeys, which combine several malts with wheat and/or corn.

So there!

I don't think my physician's assistant who told me to quit drinking is going to buy this :( !

From Dr. Wikipedia:

The highest levels of ellagic acid are found in raw chestnuts, walnuts, pecans, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, and grapes, as well as distilled beverages

But since you can't drink raw chestnuts, etc. I'll stick with single malts :D
(Some of its reputed medical benefits, however, are in question and at least one paper on this has been retracted.)

But it seems to me that if you need to justify drinking single malts on medicinal grounds, you're going at it backwards :)

As regards gin:

Doctors and assistants always tell patients not to do something so the patients can live another few years not enjoying anything.
Sigh. The latest target of their medical vitriol seems to be red wine, any amount of which is apparently deleterious to one's health.
