Wendy's Fish Sandwich - Cremation Special

The only fast food fish I've had (aside from Long John's or Arthur Treacher's) was back in the day when a Whopper wasn't enough.
I do miss Wendy's dollar menu pre 2010. 2 burgers, fries, Frosty and really nice salads for $5 and change.

I used to like their bacon cheeseburgers. Used to down them when pressed for time. No longer pressed for time, so I don't do fast food anymore.

Bet that fish sammich was twice cooked/double buttoned. Running behind schedule back when I worked for a living, I'm sure I'dve just crammed it down, too.

I remember when Wendy's had perfect bacon, and as good a baked potato you could find.

The lady at the drive thru told me they switched to some kinda pre cooked bacon, and it's one in a thousand to get a good potato now days.

In the summer when my mom goes back to Ohio, I visit Wendy's a few times a week.

That's the thing about fast food. It used to be fast AND cheap. Yeah, it wasn't good, but it was fast AND cheap. It ain't cheap anymore, it's just fast. And the convenience rarely makes up for the quality, or lack of, of the food. Now that I have time, and I don't need to rush, Rather than get another ****** burger combo, I'd rather spend less than $5 more and get a sirloin, a potato and a salad from the store. Better tasting, better for me and I feel like I have achieved something other than suffering through another mediocre meal.
That said, I do on occasion get lazy, and McDonalds via Doordash happens.

Never had Wendy Fish, didn’t actually know they had one.
After these reports, I’ll stick to their Burgers and Salads.

Wendy's only has the fish sandwich during the Easter season.
Maybe they didn't properly tell their 'chef' the proper way to cook the fish and it takes time to dial in for the perfect fish sandwich.

Around here (Arcadia/Monrovia), they are a favorite.

Big Fish Sanwich - Burger King $3.99 - VERY GOOD!

Fish sandwich at Burger King $3.99
Larger piece of fish than Wendy's $5.99 sandwich.

Plan to check Arby's tomorrow.

McDonald's has a $7.99 fish sandwich.
At $7.99 I will never know of its quality.

A couple of things. First, I often see a commercial for Applebees offering a hamburger combo of sorts for $10.99. I believe it includes the burger, fries, drink, and unlimited chips and salsa. In the commercial, they talk about the current high price of fast food and poor quality. Second, kinda curious about DoorDash. Fast food is not good all the time, but I gotta imagine that it’s never good when it’s “old” or cold. Usually when I eat it, I eat it there while it’s at its freshest and hottest. Sometimes I bring it home, and it isn’t near as good because it is colder. I would guess that DoorDash picks up multiple orders before making delivery. How is your food once delivered?

Depends. Usually, it comes straight to me. Occasionally they do multiple deliveries. Is it as hot and "fresh" as eating it there? No. But it's usually at least as hot as getting it in the drive thru and bringing it home, with notable exceptions. One restaurant I order from I don't order at certain times because of the distance and the need to go thru rushhour traffic. But again, I don't think i could get it there faster. The one thing that seems to lead to delays in the food getting to me is when there seems to be no driver willing to take the order in the area. Then they send some supervisor from miles away to cover it. I see that on the tracking, I warm up the air fryer.

Might want to go back to their burgers.
I had one of the $3 "Son of Baconator" burgers they've been advertising on TV. Its a smaller version of their "Baconator" burger.
Two 1/8 pound patties, two slices of cheese, and a couple of strips of bacon - FOR THREE BUCKS!
It was really good!

Interesting thing is it's $3 on the Wendy's website. It's $9.74 on doordash. Burger price only, not including delivery fees or taxes. I guess doordash don't do sales.

Are you sure that $9.74 is the price for the SON of Baconator - not the full sized Baconator? On the Wendy's site the regular full-sized Baconator is $9.69
I don't know what prices are like for delivery services like Doordash, Grubhub etc. Never use 'em.

That's the son of Baconator. Daddy is $11+. I have noticed that some items on doordash are slightly more expensive than if you bought them from the restaurant. That's just the item price, not including any fees.

Wow! Over 3x the price they charge at the restaurant? And then fees on top of that? Talk about GOUGING!
I knew there was good reason to avoid those delivery outfits!
Heck for a buck and change more, might as well get the big one!

The best Fish fillet in Reno was when we had a A&W on Plum & Kietzke
but that lot is now a car lot.

A&W also had "Squeeky" deep fried cheese curds, that were great
for a quick snack.

I really miss that place.

I usually stop at Arby's on my way home from the range on Wednesday afternoons.
I see they have their Crispy Fish sandwich on sale this week for 2 for $6.99
Sounds good. Have always enjoyed them.

No Culvers around here - maybe some day. Until then Popeye's fish sandwich is pretty good. Try one I think you will like it.
