You should get the one that's grip feels better in your hand. The 459 has a wider grip because it's a double stack magazine. I have big hands and usually pistols with double stack magazine feel better in my hand.

I like my 459. I put a slip-on hogue grip on it, and it feels great in my hand. I like the gun just as much as my 5906. I like the huge front sight on the 459. It is good for fast target acquisition. I painted the front sight white.

You could disassemble the pistol and inspect the extractor. You should be able to determine if it's broken without a picture.
