I purchased a Wolff spring kit for my 459 police trade in. So I'm taking the whole pistol apart to replace the springs. The frame came apart easy and fast. Then when I got to the slide, everything came to a screeching halt. I'm trying to get the decocker/drum out. I removed the phillips screw and lever on the right side. Then I depressed the metal button and pushed in the firing pin. If that makes any sense. But the decocker/drum won't come out. Is there something else I need to do? I don't want to try pounding it out with a punch and damage something.

You'll need to hold down the firing pin just a little further than the block holds it. I use a 1/16" punch and as soon as it catches I rotate the safety lever straight down and pull my punch out as I push the safety body the rest of the way out. There is a detent plunger in the safety body that clears the slide pretty quick as it comes out, it doesn't hurt to use a freezer bag to take it apart in to catch whatever flies off. You'll need all three hands to put it back together though.

Wow, thanks. That worked.
