The new WWII Midway battle movie comes out tomorrow.

Well, I saw it yesterday and liked it. About the only thing they didn’t get right was the pilots carrying 1911s in GI holsters. As far as I know S&W Victory models were standard issue. Although I have seen F-4 pilots carry the odd 1911 or BHP. I did like the 1940s swing music and singing. And...

My Wife, Light of my Life The Rest of the Story

Late last year I had major surgery. My wife and daughter were there for me. Not long after I got back on my feet my wife died--on New Year's eve, no less. We were married 41 years. Her passing leaves a dull ache. I'll have a thought and realize that she isn't there anymore. But at least she...

    Collins Foundation B-17 crash

My wife and I went up in that plane a few years ago. I had no qualms about it; it was immaculate and the crew were professionals. I'm glad the plane flew as long as it did; but as mentioned there is always some risk involved. My son, who is a high time and very experienced pilot, flew their...

    Bushmaster AR15

I got into ARs again in '06 and did some homework, Wound up with a basic Windham M4gery. It's got some 4000 plus rounds through it. For a short time I had a CMMG .22 conversion kit for it. In spite of being careful about cleaning and maintenance I got a bulge in the barrel using it. I replaced...

    YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS YOUNG

Roy Clark Someone played "Thank God and Greyhound" on the jukebox when I was feeling sorry for myself one day. It left me grinning; it sure put the blues away. To this day it makes me laugh.

Any Veterans here have military style rifles? Be careful who you ask to help move.

I think this foolishness is going to be thoroughly weaponized by ex-partners, people who dislike you for reasons known only to them, or anti-gun people who see you take out a cased firearm to the car. Worse, EVERYBODY involved—police, courts, your dog—will overreact to show how politically...

    Possible engraving endeavor

I agree that FEGA is an excellent starting point. I knew one of the founders (Bob Evans). I watched his work improve over the years to be one of the best. He did a simple job on a rescued 1911, a retirement model 60 Smith, and a stainless steel bit for my wife. In the meantime I looked at every...

    .45 Shield, safety or not

My hand and fingers are not what they used to be. My non-safety .45 Shield means one less chance to screw up. That and the good trigger make it like a DA wheelgun to shoot. I believe in both Murphy's Law and the KISS principle.

    DOB 3” 60-4 ***PICS ADDED***

I bought myself one (M60-4, .38 Spl) as a birthday present to me 26 years ago. In my opinion, it's one of the slickest little guns out there; I love it. I bought one of the later ones (M60-10?) in .357. It chronographed the 125 grainers out at 1350 fps which were a bit stiff. I stuck with the...

    LEOSA: Another year, another qual

My old agency has no interest in LEOSA; don't know about the locals. But my Wyoming CCW covers any state I'm ever liable to find myself in anyway. Wyoming also has "constitutional CCW carry" within the state. The CCW is honored in 35 other states, the vast majority "blue" (free) states.

    Old Fashioned Safety Razors?

Safety razor, shaving soap, and brush. S&W pinned, no-lock steel revolvers. Straight six engines. Looks like a trend.
