Yes you are correct that is the C&S rear sight. The only frustration I have is that I need the current front sight height to do the calculations. Luckily I heard back from S&W - it’s .241 high. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for all the great replies. I had a pair of the old uncle Mike’s boot grips, (I think that’s where they’re from) lying around in one of my many boxes of old parts. I threw those on and painted the front sight. That’ll do for now, but I think I may try and get a hogue combat style or larger...

So I just traded back for my 640-1 that I bought new back in the mid 90’s. The pachmyer grips are old and so slick in my hand the gun slips all over during recoil. I need Suggestions for Grips and a front sight.

If you want a 642-size/ weight j frame in 357 mag you’ll need to go to a 340. But I wouldn’t recommend it...it’s the only gun I’ve seen make someone bleed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
