Removing / Replacing 3d Gen. Adjustable Sights (the ones w/ "wings")

If one owned a 2d or 3d generation Smith Autoloader, and disliked the size of the adjustable sight and its accompanying stainless steel "wing" protectors, and wanted to change them out for something more svelte, how would one go about it? How does one even remove these sights, and what might be...

In general, which is more valuable, a 4 screw or a 5 screw?

This calls for generalization, but please bear with me... Assuming you have two guns, identical in condition, let them be pre-27's or K-38's whatever... In general, which is more valuable, the 5 screw because it is older, or the 4 screw because fewer were made? Thanks...

Were any K-38's Target Masterpieces (not mdl. 14) made with 8-3/8" bbl?

Folks, I am looking at a K-38 that serial numbers to 1947. My concern is that it has an 8-3/8" bbl. I was under the impression that K-38 TM were only made in 6" until 1959 when the 8-3/8 bbl was introduced... of course by 1959, the TM was a Mdl. 14. Without having the revolver in front of...

    HOUSE FIRE ! ! ! ! ! Forum member Dan M - - EDITED

I know we all like to rush to the defense of a fellow member, and our default position is to side with them against the world, but isn't it a little premature to declare unilaterally that the insurance company is the bad guy here? There are surely facts not in evidence, and investigations that...

    28-2 sight question

From the looks, that 28 is a shooter grade piece, not a collectible (is any 28 a collectible?)so to me it would be a push, or I might pay a slight premium for the Behlert sight... just my $0.02. Regards...

    SOLD SOLD SOLD

I have collected my 10mm and 45 ACP brass for the last year intending to reload it, but have to admit that I am a revolver man, and a .357 Magnum one at that. So, to reduce the amount of "stuff" in my hobby room, I am looking to part with this brass. TRADED <STRIKE>I have 650+ pieces of...

Price check on Post War .357 Magnum...

At 90%, a dealer in Connecticut would ask $650, and you could probably get it for $600 cash OTD. I have not seen any 27 or "pre 27" here go for less than $500 in the past 18 months...

    BOD? model 14

Serial Number dates to 1957... the same year S&W went to model numbers. Before 1957 your 14 would have been a Target Masterpiece. Are you sure the gun is a five screw? The pictures don't seem to show it, and it would make sense if it were a 4 screw as S&W deleted the upper sideplate screw in...

    DOB's for Model 58 and 1917

Roper, The M58 was made in 1973. Can't be of much help with the 1917, all I can tell you is that according to the SCSW 163,600 were made for the Army between 1917 and early 1919. The serial number range for these guns was 1 - 169959. Assuming linear production, yours was most likely made in...
