I recently bought a M58, Serial # N153578 and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea when it was made. I also have a 1917 Serial # 107385, same question. Thanks

Roper,

The M58 was made in 1973.

Can't be of much help with the 1917, all I can tell you is that according to the SCSW 163,600 were made for the Army between 1917 and early 1919. The serial number range for these guns was 1 - 169959. Assuming linear production, yours was most likely made in 1918, but that is a guess. Is there a U.S. ordnance flaming bomb mark on the left side of the frame in front of the hammer?

Good Luck...

CT:

Thanks for the quick reply and the info. Re the 1917, yes it does have the flaming bomb mark.
