My J frame S&W Model 49 has a hole in the cylinder stop, but was put there recently by my gunsmith. The cylinder was not locking up completely, and would rotate. So the gunsmith drilled a hole to elongate the cylinder stop so it would fully engage the cylinder. Hope this helps.

That is correct.The Lew Horton 24-3 round butt's are definitely N frame. That ad was very confusing and incorrect.
