Good on Ohio, Virginia and Texas! My NM renewal, earlier this fall, took 10 weeks to the day. Our program is run by the Dept. of Public Safety (state police, not by counties).

In answer to the original question, here in New Mexico, one can carry only one concealed gun at a time. I would think some other states would have the same restriction, but I may be wrong.

Sounds like your problem was discussed here. Model 29 changes (29-1, 29-2, etc) when was cylinder recoil problem fixed?

Most firearm trainers would probably say something like "same gun, same place, all the time". I myself am guilty of occasionally varying the gun, and even the location--OWB vs IWB and pocket. It would probably help to do a half dozen practice presentations with an unloaded gun before leaving...

A lot of good info here. For a real-world round-count in civilian encounters, have a look at the "the armed citizen" column in the NRA's magazine the American Rifleman. This months issue cites 6 examples. In one case the defender fired 4 rounds. Several of the rest were solved with 0 or 1...

The Bianchi website for the 5BHL gives a holster for both the Ruger SP101 3" and the S&W 60 3" with the same size designation of 3 and the same part number of 10261. I have one and it does fit both guns very well. Check it out.

That also means you did not practice with your carry gun for 6 weeks. Can't recommend that.
