Well Jim,
I wouldn't shoot a poor dog with it, so I think that and the fact that I don't need to have the "cokes" (unless they came on it) puts me back out front. Sorry Engine49guy, but you're just too mean. It may be due to that ex wife you mentioned, but still............. just sayin':D
Hey Jim,
Nice find!
I know I'm late to the party, but I just needed to make you aware that that is a birth year gun for me, and I have yet to find one myself. That should give me priority in getting it over the others desiring it......... shouldn't it?:D
I will say that even though I vastly prefer the shroud, some smaller/lighter barreled guns like the M-15 look better without it IMO. There may be one or two others that do as well, but that is the one that comes to mind immediately (maybe because I was handling mine earlier :))

Both my Nickel 44 Magnum and my K-32 shipped in '58 and they both have the flat faced screws in the sights. Everything else is from '60 on and have the rounded screws, in case that helps anyone.
I love 5" guns, especially the tapered barrels. That one is fine no matter what the situation is on it.
I have seen S&W stamp the small logo on the left side like that after re-finishing a gun where the side plate stamp was either thin to start with, or needed to be polished out/off to make...
I've seen quite a few of them for sale right on this forum over the time I've been here, and back in '08/'09 they were selling for $7-$800 on here. I paid $700 for mine, but it is an older S prefix model in great shape.
I am really surprised that others haven't jumped in on this thread. The wrong grips are a big bargaining factor in your favor, as is the lack of box, docs., and tools. Check to see if the serial numbers all match- bottom of grip, cylinder, barrel etc.
Does the 152 actually look like this- 1.52? (Jan '52)
If so, that is a date from a trip back to the factory, and probably when the star stamp was placed on the gun.
