    1911 PRO SERIES .45 ACP

Had a chance to shoot the Pro Series 1911 a little over a month ago when my favorite dealer had a S&W demo day. Unfortunately the rear sight was loose so I couldn't give it a really good test; rep tried to get it tightened but it wouldn't cooperate. However he also brought a PC 1911 with him and...

    45LC Glaser Safety Slugs

Thanks, guys for the info, most interesting. If I remember correctly the Glasers were originally designed for use by the first sky marshals because they didn't want to run the risk of a round penetrating the fuselage of the plane and causing problems. Since then they've learned "explosive...

    45LC Glaser Safety Slugs

Anybody have any experience with these? Thinking about getting some to try and then use a mix of Glasers and Silvertip 225 JHP in my two S&W Mountain Guns.

What gun and load did you use for your ccw test?

In my first CCW class I believe I used a Sig P220 with 230gr handloads. The second class I took, which qualified me for the MO CCW, I used my Sig P220 and XD45C Tactical, both with 230 grain factory loads. Plus the instructors S&W Model 27 and Model 41. Did I mention also a 1928 Thompson...

If an N frame was all you had ...

Only two N frames I have at the moment are a 625-6 Mountain Gun and 25-13 Mountain Gun, both in 45LC, and I don't feel undergunned with either one. In fact either of them will probably be used as carry guns now that the weather allows me to wear a heavier coat. Now if I can just afford to get...

    New S&W Guns: 625 in .45 Long Colt and 629 Hunter-Plus

I wonder if the 625 Mountain Gun in 45LC has the distinction of the being the first one re-issued since the intro of the lock. I say that because I have a 625-6 Mountain Gun in 45LC sitting right next to me. Guess this means I'll be sending mine in to have a new barrel put on it. Some idiot...

    I have a 629 MG, should I buy a 4" 624?

As far as I'm concerned you can never have enough Mtn Guns. I have a 625 and 25, both 45LC and would like to add a few more. I'm also one who likes the 44Sp much better than the 44Mag.

    Rumor for the day

When S&W starts making some no-lock N frames then I might be interested. Specifically 44 Special and 45 ACP. Btw, my 9mm M&P came with no lock so Smith is making guns both ways. At least in the M&P series.

    K frame vs L frame

The grips on the K frames and L frames are virtually the same size. The size difference is in the part of the frame that surrounds the cylinder which was beefed-up to allow use of light weight .357 bullets which had been causing problems with the K frames.

How about a Mountain Gun thread

Thanks jefats. I didn't remember ever seeing any of the Mountain Guns factory ported but thought I'd check just to be sure. Now I think I will have those ports plugged, get some speedloaders and see about doing some IDPA shooting with it. Somebody did a pretty good trigger job on it so it has...

How about a Mountain Gun thread

Before I do something dumb, does anyone know if any of the Mt Guns came with ported barrels? I have a 625-6, at least I think it is -6 could be -5, Mt Gun in 45 Colt which is ported and I want to know if it might possibly have come that way.

    Help me choose (.41/.44/.45)?

Something of a toss-up between 44 mag and 45 Colt, at least as as I'm concerned. Both are extremely versatile, able to load a wide range of bullets at almost as wide velocities. However I think the 45 Colt has something of an advantage because a hot load in it is not going to have the muzzle...

    Moon clips -- different?

I can imagine you would be having problems since a 40mm cartridge is 4 times as big as a 10mm; 1.50 inches in diameter, to be exact. Now that is a handgun I'd like to see.

questions on these new classics they're bringing back

I wonder how many of the people who think the old Smith & Wessons were so great have really spent the time shooting one that was virtually NIB. The would quickly find out why Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton, Bill Jordan and everyone else who actually used their guns had trigger jobs done on them...
