    Montana Gold round nose tumbling...

They may not be tumbling. Did you have your target on a backing cardboard? If not, round nose bullets will occasionally make teardrop shaped holes on an unsupported target , and all of the teardrops will be oriented alike. Make sure your target is secured to a backing cardboard and see if...

WTB S&W 52 Barrel Bushing Plate

I'm looking to buy a spare barrel bushing plate for a Model 52. I temporarily lost mine today and it scared me almost to death. Anyone have one for sale or know where I can buy one. PS: I tried S&W, Numrich, Jack First and Bob's Gun Shop to no avail.

Any .38 S&W reloding gurus out there???

For starters, I DO NOT claim to be a Guru, nor anything close to that distinguished title. My son has a circa 1932 Regulation Police in 38 S&W that we reload for and shoot with regularity. We use a Lee 3-die set, and buy 140 grain lead bullets, sized to .360", from Penn Bullets. We load them...

    Model 52 extractor

If the one that is broken is a pre-dash model, you can buy an extractor at the link below on page 6. This extractor will not fit a 52-2 and I'm not sure if it will fit a 52-1. Numrich Gun Parts Corp. - The World's Largest Supplier of Firearms Parts and Accessories

    38 spl loads for a S&W 52

ChrisD, here is some data that I accumulated from this forum over the last year or so. Most of this, if not all, has come from a poster on this site that goes by the handle "boatbum101". I have tried a few of these loads with excellent success. "I use the Zero & Remington HBWC's in my 52-2 &...

    cci primers

My guess would be that the primers are not seated completely and the first strike is finishing the seating and the second strike is igniting the primer. That has always been my experience with primers that ignite on the second strike.

    Deactivating Live Primers

According to the following Cal Tech posting (DARPA/MTO/MEMS Digital Micro-Propulsion Project) lead styphnate can be neutralized by a sodium carbonate solution, which is soda ash. "Lead styphnate does not react with metals and is less sensitive to shock and friction than mercury fulminate or...

Cleanest Powder for Loading HBWC (?)

Try 2.9 grains of VihtaVuori (? sp) N320 under that wadcutter. That is by far the cleanest powder I have ever used, and works like a charm in my Model 52.

    Any Experience with Tula Primers?

I've used both Wolf and Tula SPP, and have read that they are one in the same. However, I had excellent luck with the Wolf primers and only so-so luck with the Tula primers. I have had the occasional "dud" with Tula and would not consider purchasing them again. I would suggest you not depend...

    .38 S&W Reloading Dies

Lee makes a set of 38 S&W dies. I use them and they work well with a .360" diameter lead bullet.

Thanks RGPM1A. Now I need to muster the guts to start the process.

    Model 52 Fring Pin Removal

RGPM1A, appreciate this info, which is exactly what I had hoped to turn up specific to the Model 52. Apparently there is something different about a 52 slide, because the firing pin safety plunger, shown being depressed by a clothes pin, does not exist on a 52. Since parts are scarce to...
