anybody have trouble with cci primers going off on the first hit in a 610? looks like a good strike but they wont go off, second time they go off. seating of primer all looks good. i have checked for primers backing out that seems fine also,i had to change to federal in a taurus because of it. but have never had light strike problem in a s/w before.
thanks for help in advance!!!

My guess would be that the primers are not seated completely and the first strike is finishing the seating and the second strike is igniting the primer. That has always been my experience with primers that ignite on the second strike.

And make sure your strain screw is tight. Newer CCI primers are not as "hard" as the older ones and seem to be easier to ignite than the newer unplated Winchester. If you are using factory springs and a factory strain screw you shouldn't have any problems.

Those were my thoughts. If the primers are in deed seated correctly it might be your revolver if the action was "tuned". Sometimes when work is done on the trigger a more sensitive primer is needed. Those primers are usually made by Federal.

I use CCI primers and had the same issue as you. After very carefully looking at the primers I discovered some were not seated properly. The brass (used) was the problem, a
certain brand just didn't seat the primers well. Tossed them and no problem since.

thanks !!! it was the strain screw, took the grips off last night an checked the screw, it wasnt tight, took it to the range this morning and shot a 100 rds. without a problem, it was getting so bad that at least 1 out of every cyc would take a double hit to set it off, man i thought it was gonna have to go back. THANKS AGAIN
