    Picked Up The New 66

Thank you Hopper! Thanks for the advice. I think that I will go with the boot grips -- in super rosewood with S&W medallions. Now I just have to find a 66-8 -- to join my 66-3 and 66-5, both of which have three inch barrels!

    Picked Up The New 66

question for Hopper regarding your Altamont Altai grips I just love those grips! But please tell me, if you can, whether you think that they would work for someone with small hands. My hands are about the same size as most women I know.

Thanks Rick! That certainly makes sense.

    Picked Up The New 66

why not a 3-inch barrel? Does anyone know why S&W went with a 2.75 inch barrel rather than a 3 inch barrel? It certainly made sense to give the gun a barrel long enough to take a full length ejection rod, but why not go all the way with what many believe is the perfect barrel length? Not...

newbie question re 9mm bullet seating

Thanks for the advice! Well, I took the dummy round route and found that rounds with an OAL of 1.115 won't feed in any of my guns, but that 1.130 will feed just fine. I'm traveling right now but when I get back home, I'll load some live rounds and see what happens.

newbie question re 9mm bullet seating

Thank you gentlemen! Thank you for the advice! I will start out with the minimum OALs and see how they feed. I imagine that this will not present problems, as my Glock 19 has never had a problem feeding anything!

newbie question re 9mm bullet seating

I'm new to reloading semiautomatic rounds (I've reloaded only .38 Special in the past) and I want to get it right as I understand that seating 9mm bullets too far in their cases can produce dangerous pressures. I understand that 1.169" is the maximum length for 9mm rounds without reference to...

Anyone (recently) send their gun in to Smith reblue?

S&W did a great job for me! This is now two years ago, but I sent them my father's old model 41 for reblueing. It was a mess: deep scratches and deep gouges, stocks that gave me splinters when I first got a hold of it! The gun was in such bad shape that S&W cautioned me that they might not be...

Looking at 686 SSR Any thoughts?

Say Gnystrom, Is that a HiViz front sight that you put on your SSR? I was thinking of a fiber optic sight to help out my aged eyes. How has it worked for you? How difficult was it to swap out the factory sights? Jeffrey

    Beware Remora Holsters Support

My experiences with Remora are a bit old (it was when Alan answered the phone himself), but they were uniformly good. The one time that they sent the wrong holster (when Alan had some employees), they were very apologetic, told me to keep the wrong one (I gave it to a friend who had a gun that...

    Ever had a revolver fail?

Reading recent posts, I just remembered one other revolver failure: a spring snapped in my old Python (I don't recall which spring, as I never got up the nerve to take that gun apart), and the action ceased to function.

    Ever had a revolver fail?

I have had several revolver failures in the last ten years or so, all on the range, thank goodness. The hand snapped off my brand new 37-2. The hammer nose snapped off my newish 629-4. The crane cracked and broke on my 66-5 in the middle of an IDPA match. With these three parts failures, CS...

thoughts on my 625 purchase please

You can't go wrong with a 4 inch 625-3, Model of 1989. Mine is scary accurate. It is one of those guns that I will never trade away! But like One Eye Joe, I just wish that it had roll markings instead of the laser etching, which will disappear if ever I renew the bead blast finish. That's my...

Lock plug. Now taking orders to ship next week.

I'd like one for my bead-blast-finish 686-6 Pro.

Buying not knowing what I am doing

Hey Robert! I assume that there is only one Packin' Preacher in the world. Congrats on the gun. Please bring it to next month's IDPA match so that I can drool all over it (unless Ryan cancels three in a row!). Please excuse me if there are two Packin' Preachers in the world and I'm addressing...
