I have experienced the same issue and I field stripped it and found the rod that holds the mag release button to be pushed down and acts like a spring and not catching the magazine fully when inserted. See manual for pictures in section how to switch mag release button to see what I am talking...

My MP-22 has started to drop the mag without touching the release button and the button doesn't feel springy like before. I field stripped it and the spring arm is fully seated in the little slot on the mag release button. Should I send it back to Smith and Wesson or is there and easy fix?
