    625 vs 25 vs 610

    I have a 625 and a 610, I shoot better with the 610, but that's me.

Bought my first revolver today!!! might have made a mistake UPDATE!!!

Ha ha, I feel bad for you. Bought your first revolver today, betcha can't stop at just one! As far as the bore, shoot it with some jacketed bullets, see what it looks like after that. I bought one, then another, then another...... I think we are up to 10 now, I'd have to go look. :)

    625 thoughts

I bought my 625 because I already had a 1911 and thought it would be cool to use the same ammo in each gun. I quickly learned that I like my revolvers better!

    Model 66 & 686 .357 Magnums?

We shoot easily 100+ rounds at a time of wadcutters through our 686's. I clean the gun the next day most of the time with a stainless steel brush from Brownells. Never had any problems going from .38 Specials to .357 Magnums.

20 day California Wait for my new 686??

Interesting. I love shooting shotguns more than anything else. Wonder if I could buy enough land and just sit there shooting at giant flying insects...... :) NJ is pretty bad with the guns laws we need to deal-with also. The worst part is getting permits to purchase handguns. Depending on your...

Revolvers & Red Dot Sights For The Mature Shooter

Had the same problem, spent an hour in the garage drilling and tapping the frame and about $60 for materials. Yes, it looks stupid but at least I can now use it. And finding the Dot can be an issue with it. I use it just for the range, would never use it for defense.

Would S&W ever consider making a revolver chambered in .40 S&W?

I have shot about 1000 rounds of .40 S&W from my 610 so far using moonclips but have yet to fire 10mm through it. One day I will try them, have about 100 rounds just sitting there waiting.....

    Model 617 Question

I'm in the same boat. Once in awhile I get hit in the face also. After a hundred rounds or so the bullets don't just drop-into the cylinder anymore either, some have to be pressed-in a bit. I'll contact S&W also and see what they have to say.

    Model 617 Question

I bought my 617 used. I was getting hit once in awhile in the face from splatter, never experienced that on any of my other revolvers. I cleaned this thing spotless, will see how many rounds it takes to make a mess of it again.

    Model 617 Question

Thanks guys. The gun is accurate so I assume timing is ok. Will check the items noted above to make sure. I am using the cheapest ammo possible, no match-grade stuff here!

    Model 617 Question

I am getting a lot of residue under the top strap and around the forcing cone. Tried taking some pictures. Not sure if it is lead, or simply powder residue. How do you check timing? A rod down the barrel of the proper diameter and see if it slides cleanly into each chamber on the cylinder?

    Model 64 & Red Dot

Cast into the gun, not removable. Here is what I did to it: The red dot worked great tonight! I was finally hitting a 3" group at 25 yards. :)

    Model 64 & Red Dot

Guess no one else has tried this. Well, it was easier than I thought it would be. Now I need to take it to the range and see what it's like.

Best gun to build PPC Revolver

I like shooting PPC but I take a different view of it. I do it as a practical competition. I use stock revolvers and factory ammo. I use .38 Special, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. We have people using custom guns, light loads, even .22's. They outscore me, I don't care, I am there to have fun and use...
