About 10 years ago, I was having problems with my Model 41. It was basically a single shot pistol. FTF and FTE galore. No joy. I decided to break down the gun, clean the pistol thoroughly, and replace all springs and extractor. I used an aftermarket extractor and purchased Wolff springs...
I changed out my front sight with a fiber optic one. It's been years ago and don't recall the manufacturer. I do remember making sure it was a direct replacement for my S&W Model 686 Plus revolver. Good luck and be safe.

I had the same problem the OP is talking about with my Model 41. I changed out my extractor to a Volquartsen Exact Edge extractor and changed out my springs with Wolff Springs. I also cleaned all my magazines and the gum was given a good cleaning. So in the end it was the extractor and springs...
If the issue with the gun bothers you, sell it. If you still are upset with the way S&W dealt with you, call and talk to a supervisor or a corporate rep about the situation. I sent two revolvers back to S&W in the last few months and all went well. No problems with communications and all was...
About 10 years ago I wanted to buy a new Model 41 but I couldn't find one online. One night I was perusing Bud's Gun Shop website and they had a new one in stock. I bought it and it is one of my favorite guns to shoot. It is fabulous pistol. I got it for $860 NIB. It is well constructed and if...
Flitz polish is the best. A little dab will do it. You can don't even need to rub hard. Use a soft cloth.

I had sent back my two revolvers for service. The first one was my Model 638. The barrel was misaligned. After I they received it it was only 3 days before they sent me an email acknowledging that they received the revolver. I got the revolver back in less than a month. The other revolver I had...
I love classic, iconic firearms. Too bad I can't afford them. I was fortunate to able able to inherit a Colt Python revolver and two Armalite AR-180 rifles about a year ago. I don't see these firearms much at the local range and the one's that are in the know comes and flock by my table when...
I was having basically the same problems as the OP. I resolved the issue by changing all the major springs in the gun, replaced the extractor, and detail cleaned the gun. No more failure to eject, fire, and feed. BTW I never had light primer strikes. If all fails, S&W repair are the best in...
Aimpoint Micro H-1 was mounted on my Model 41 for years. It made it too easy for casual shooting so I took it off and only shoot open sights now. On my Ruger Mark III Hunter I have a Ultradot Match Dot. That also makes it too easy.
