How long does it take for S&W to contact you after -

Promptly when it's warranty work. Sent my 640 Pro in when it was new because the Tritium front sight was dark and it felt like it had been assembled in a sand box (real gravely action).

They sent an email to me the day they received it, and I had it back in 10 days.

Not so fast when I sent my 547 in for light strikes (fail to fire). Took about a month to hear from them and arrange payment, then it took them another month and a half for the Performance Center to repair it (must admit they were down for the summer break for three weeks of that time). Took another week to ship it back to me.

One guy's experience.

Not to be a downer here, but I hope you have better results than I did/am getting.

I recently sent two revolvers back for warranty work. The first one I had to call, email, email, and finally call again before I received a reply(about 3 weeks). When I finally spoke with someone they informed me it was repaired and headed to shipping. On the second one I waited patiently and after 2 weeks I called them. I actually called them today. I did speak to someone briefly while he talked to a co-worker about a pin of some type and then bam! He hung up on me. I called back & spoke with someone and they told me the same thing as before. It's been repaired and is in shipping. She tried to give me a tracking number, but then said that it must not have shipped yet. I asked for details both times I was informed that the repairs were done. Both time the reply was short and lacked details. The paper in the box after the first repair was short and not very sweet. "Blast shield replaced. Cylinder replaced. Frame refinished." The blast shield was replaced, I think the cylinder was actually refinished and the frame definitely was not. Not to mention every screw was buggered. I emailed them with pictures and they replied with a "sorry about that. We'll send out a screw package.". Which arrived except for the worst one, the cylinder release screw. They said it was on back order. That was at least a month and a half ago. Must be some back order. They said they'd send it out when they get some more. Today they said my 340PD cylinder was replaced and my yoke repaired. I had put a note about possibly getting a steel cylinder and expected a call. The yoke? What was wrong with the yoke? The CS rep said sorry, I can't see which cylinder was used in the replacement and I can't see what was wrong with the yoke, but there will be paper work with the firearm when you get it back. I'm thinking to myself......oh boy, oh boy can't wait to see it, but just smiled and said hey! I appreciate your help and thank you for your time.

They have my email and my phone number. I'm just shaking my head here.

No reply once my revolver was recieved, just a email that it was homebound. 3 weeks round trip.

I had sent back my two revolvers for service. The first one was my Model 638. The barrel was misaligned. After I they received it it was only 3 days before they sent me an email acknowledging that they received the revolver. I got the revolver back in less than a month. The other revolver I had sent back to them was my Model 686 Plus. I had the issue of hammer push off with this gun. I sent that to S&W about a month after I received my other gun back. Again S&W contacted me me within 3 days after receiving the it and I got the revolver back within 3 weeks. They were very consistent and I was happy with the results. BTW I was not charged for the services even though for the Model 686 Plus I did install aftermarket springs.
