Bought my blued 10-5 2" back in 1968. Still have it in new condition. The price on the box says I paid $ 76.50.

I had a problem with the J frame grips that came on my 642-1,too small for my large hands and couldn't use a speedloader. Bought a set of Pachmayer Gripper J frame grips (3 finger) and both problems solved.

I had the same problem with my 642 right out of the box. Sent back to S&W and had it back within a week. Problem solved.

Thanks. I got the grips off using a T10 size torx head and a light tap with a small hammer.

Anyone know the answer? Does S&W use any Loctite on these hex head screws?

Senior,I've had my knees replaced three times,2000,2001 and a revision on the first one in 2006. As many have said the dedication to the therapy is the key to a successful recovery. I had a combination of pool therapy and "land"therapy. The revision was due to me still working as a construction...

I just wanted to compliment S&W for a fast turnaround on my 642. Sent it in per instructions on a Wednesday and got it back on the following Tuesday. It only needed a new firing pin but still it didn't sit around for three weeks or longer.

Has anyone had failure to fire with their 642-1? I've had it to the range three time with different brands of ammo all 158 grain but the problem persists. I'll get three out of five rounds misfiring but the primers are dimpled. There is no internal lock on it.
