Order of operations .223 New reloader

Here is my workflow for 223 1) Decap with universal decapper (does not resize) 2) Tumble wet in stainless pin media, separate media, dry with a blow dryer while shaking brass in a big tupperware bucket. 3) Inspect case and swage Primer Pockets with RCBS tool/die if needed. 4) Resize cases 5)...

9mm plated 115gr target load help

You will get the best accuracy if you either keep the bullet subsonic all the way to the target, or supersonic all the way to the target. If you have a muzzle velocity that is just supersonic but the bullet slows to subsonic before the 25yard line, that is an accuracy killer. The shockwave...

    .45 auto rim in 25-2

You might look for one of the hollow base copper plated bullets from the likes of Berry's or Xtreme. They will seal the bore or chamber better with less pressure than a solid base bullet.

That's Missouri Bullet Company doing soft and hard.

    Beam scale recommendations?

If the zero is fluctuating on your electronic scale, there are two common causes that will do that. First is air flow. Just having a heating/AC duct nearby can cause fluctuations. A bigger problem is electrical interference. That can come from fluorescent light ballasts and especially from...

    W231 Accuracy Loads

In 45ACP, 5.1 grns W231 under a Lasercast 200gr LSWC is very accurate. The only thing I have found better in my wadgun is the Vihtavouri marine load.

.38 Special - trim or no trim?

If it's mixed brass, trimming is not going to make a noticeable difference in accuracy. If you're sorting by headstamp, weighing every charge, weighing bullets and sorting by weight, then by all means trim them too. But just trimming without doing that other stuff is fruitless other than...

timing in the honady lnl ap

Try Hornady One Shot cleaner/lube on the bottom of the shell plate before you install it. Clean the baseplate well before you apply the lube.

    Target Interpretation

When you are working up a load in a revolver, I find it much easier to evaluate a "recipe" using only a single chamber of the cylinder for all rounds fired. And, shoot from a rest always and at least to 25yds. That is the best way to get meaningful consistent group data.

    warning - rifle reloading question.

Both my Marlin 336 and Winchester 94 start stringing shots after the 2nd or third one. The only way to get consitent results is to let my barrel cool 3-5 minutes between shots. What you are seeing is pretty normal for lever guns....you shoot two shots thinking darn this thing can group, then...

    Temporary or portable benches?

I picked up the bottom half of a big roll around tool chest, mounted two layers of 3/4" plywood to the top, and mounted my presses to that. The bottom drawer has about 250 lbs of bullets in it, with the other drawers holding dies, brass, scales, tools, etc. The castered wheels have brakes that...

    22lr at Cabelas

The Cabelas in Buda TX has been putting out 22LR (Winchester and Blazer) 2-3 times per week. You just have to be there at the right time. It's gone within the hour.

    Short Hornady 357 cases

What does the Starline FAQ for new brass have to do with factory once fired brass that started this thread? Hornady does use short cases on FTX loads for 357 and 45 colt, and probably others too due to the long ogive on the FTX bullet. The question here is does his brass match the Hornady trim...

    140gr Hornady FTX Load Data

It's not just how fast you push the bullet, it is also how hard you hit it with pressure, the steepness of the pressure curve slope, and the rate of acceleration that can cause problems.
