The grips in my photo (above, on the reloading bench) are Ahrends Retro Combat in cocobolo. I requested them unfinished and gave them a mixture of linseed oil with a touch of Tru-Oil for darkness.
I went to the range this morning with my 6" 586-1, and concur that it is indeed a very easy revolver to be accurate with (especially with the .38's!). I still need to work on my unsupported double action accuracy, but single action off the bench it's a real tackdriver at 25yds.

I've got kind of a strange question. Would it be possible to install a 686 barrel and 686 6-shot cylinder on a 586 frame?
If so, what are the potential downsides (if any)..i.e. would this be a "drop in" simple swap of parts, or would there be gunsmith-involved fitting/timing issues...
