My trigger is smooth but my 4506 has the common "click" in the trigger. Has something to do with the spring that keeps the trigger from rattling or something like that. Does not affect function at all. The 4566 is a fantastic pistol and balances better that the full size 4506, IMO anyway.
Cool post. Two good friends are CHP and I know one for sure purchased their duty pistol. I have seen it and could swear there was no rail. I'm gonna have to look again, this thread has my curiosity piqued. He said he is liking the M&P. Shoots great, quite a bit lighter, more capacity.
I just happened upon mine; did a trade with a cop that had purchased it unfired (supposedly a back up) through some LE channels. If it was fired it was very little as it looked new inside. It wasn't until I had it in hand and did a little research when I found it was a DPS gun. Definitely one of...
Nice collection. My 3 are all past LE guns; 4006 AK DPS, 4506 Brownsville TX PD, and an unk agency 4566. My 4006 always generates questions due to the front serrations.
It is an Alaska Dept of Public Safety gun. I traded for it in nearly new condition. It was a back up gun that had little use. I assume the gun came from the factory that way, as ordered by the DPS. It is a decocker model only as well, no safety.
It is a great shooter, 100% reliable, with a...
How bad is the trigger? All of my 3rd gens have great triggers and they too are all LE trade ins. The 5903 is a defensive pistol. Maybe 4" at nearly 20 yds is all it is gonna do:confused:
Agreed. Building a 4506 is no different than a 1911. But while many of us adore them, there are probably more "kids" these days looking for more "modern" polymer pistols.
Hopefully some manufacturer steps up to produce the more wearable parts.
The good part is they are nearly "bullet proof" so needing parts is fairly uncommon. That said, I just bought a bunch of misc parts and springs from Numrich. Their supply is thin and dwindling so get it while you can.
Great info guys! Just today I stocked up on some spare parts for my 4566/4506/4006 from Numrich. Those parts are slowly disappearing so don't wait if you want something.
