We had several 669's that had to be returned to S&W with cracked frames at the rails. The frame is replaced with a 6906 frame with the same SN. That is no longer the case and cracked frames will not be replaced. The owner, if if original is out of luck.
That was probably the case here.
We transitioned to the then new 659 in 84 which came standards with magazine disconnects. Up until the mid 2000 we finally speced a Glock (23) was S&W no longer produced their line of third gen. SA. All had the feature and none malfunctioned. But there were more than a few times that the seat...
S&W stopped supporting the line even for a first owner. Last year they refused to replace a cracked frame on a 659. round count was maybe 2500 rounds. In the past they replaced our cracked frames with third gen frames but that's no loner possible. ^59's had less problems than the 669's which saw...
We had several 659's crack the frame. At the time S&W replaced them with 5906 frames. Unfortunately today all the frames are gone and any needing replacement are denied repair. So seeing them in that configuration isn't unheard of, this is the first time I've seen one new in the box. They aren't...
I knew Austin from the times he spent at my club's range in Secaucus in the 60's and 70's. (Big -T). I shot smallbore competitions with his son Frank. Frank's sister was just a kid who was always at those matches.
In those days he worked out of his VW Camper. Unfortunately as a kid of 15, I...
We had issues with slide rails cracking on low round count units.
In the past, S&W repaired them. but the 659 we wanted to send in for a frame crack was denied due to a lack of parts.
I'd look for a 6906.
Try the S&W Custom Shop. Won't be cheap but no one is making much for that series any longer. But the dovetails could probably be modified to accept a set. Try Dawson. www.dawsonprecision.com Home Page
The 39-2 was my first off duty. Nice but buigger and not as relieable. I've carried almost every second and third gen S&W up until mid 200 when the 4013TSW was retired.
The only issues our department ever experienced as a total S&W agency for over 20 years was frames cracking in second gen...
I carried a 6906 and a 669 on duty and a 3913 off duty. I never liked the feel of the 3913 as much as the 6906. It comes down to a personal preference. both functioned fine with a wide varity of ammo makes and types. We did have a problem with cracked frames in some 669's. All were corrected...
My wife is a Saint's fan longer than I but she loves the Manning family. While the colts may come out on top, I think it's going to be a lot closer than that.
Even the dog is going with the Saint's.......
But how long to completely dry. I clean a few hundred a session. This method would not work. I think you would get similar results just soaking in the same solution.
