    Did they ever paint Victories?

Many/most of the Victory revolvers imported from Australia went through the Factory Thorough Repair process before being exported. These are marked "FTR" with a date stamp showing when the FTR was done. Most I've seen are 1953-55. These FTR guns also had a very dark phosphate finish that looks...

I don't usually post on this forum, but couldn't resist showing this web site to you all. There are some truly spectacular examples of the engravers art here, all of them on old S&Ws! » Handguns decorated by Tiffany

    Help with Mdl 29-2

Thanks to all for the good advice regarding the value of this 29-2. I'll pass it along to the seller, and I'm sure she won't end up selling it for a "couple hundred", as originally offered!

    Help with Mdl 29-2

re: the blue lining, I was just going by what she told me."Smocked" is probably the right term, but I haven't personally seen the case. - the price she was offered was a "couple hundred', which I didn't think too highly of.

    Help with Mdl 29-2

Hi, all - This is my first time on this particular forum, since my collection tends more toward C&R milsurp guns. However, the husband of a friend of mine at work recently died and left her with quite a few guns. He was a hunter, and most of the guns are shotguns and rifles, but there are a few...

    Joe Friday's S&W Snubbie

According to the "Movie Guns" website: "the Smith & Wesson Model 10 snub revolver is the sidearm carried by Sgt. Joe Friday (Jack Webb). In Season 2's "The Shooting Board" (S2E21), Sgt. Friday uses his S&W when confronting a robbery suspect at a laundromat. When asked to give up his weapon for...

    Australian Victory Model.....

Attached are a few photos of my Australian FTR Victory Model. All the markings appear to be the same as those of the gun shown earlier, with the exception of the large "F" stamped into the wood at the butt. The earlier gun had an "X". I can't shed any light on the meaning of this, but would love...

Pic. of the Pre-Victory Smith stamps

I bought a very similar gun about 2.5 years ago for $300.00, and I thought it was quite a good price. I've attached a few pix for you to compare to...

    Clips for 1917

I prefer the full moon clips myself, for both the Colt and the S&W M1917s. To me, they are easier to load and unload, and you only have to use half as many! NOTE: you will probably want to buy one of the unloading tools to go with it. They are shaped sort of like a question mark and are made of...

First time caller, long time listener :) S&W Victory Query

One example of a non-British marking can be found on revolvers sent to New Zealand, like the (poorly stamped) "NZ" on the backstrap of this Victory Model:

    38 S&W Victory "Arsenal" refinished

Many of the Australian Victory Models were given a "factory thorough repair" by the arsenal, and are marked with an "FTR" stamp to indicate that. Here is a photo of mine, so you can see what the marking looks like:
