Has S&W it anyone else performed any upgrades to this model? About 40rds through it and cylinder is pretty much locked up from lead/residue build up where the gas ring is supposed to be around the cylinder and yoke. 146gr HBWC factory .38spl.

S&W 340PD and just ordered a Hoffner kydex iwb holster for it, also planning to carry a 317-3" with the same holster for those times when critters could be more of an issue compared to thugs.

You have 10rds in a 8rd cylinder? In a 340PD I carry .38+p FMJ's for 3 holes and the last two are .357mags. Thinking of switching to CCI .38 or .357 with aluminum cases to save some weight. (All my SD pistols are loaded with FMJ ammo.)

625PC = Conventional groove/land rifled barrel, short cylinder, longer barrel tenon to match the short cylinder, no ball lock. 625JM = Regular 625 cylinder, sort of polygonal rifling. (I have a 625PC but do not have a 625JM, and yes the grips should be replaced ASAP unless you want to try...

I recommend not getting the 625PC, you can pick up the 625JM and spend the extra money for trigger and chamfer work. The regular 625's are nice but the owners selling them seem to think they are gold or something and am not sure when S&W will do another non-special run of them... My 625PC...

I have and use the Moonclip Tool, have two arbors that fit the hearthco stainless moonclips and blued moonclips. (I dont think the Brownells moonclips fit either arbor... but can't remember 100%.) The stainless moonclips are NICE when used with Starline brass, the Remington brass is ok fitting...

250+ rounds in a 340PD, an earlier version I think when they were first introduced. About 75 of those rounds fired were Remington .357Magnums and a good bit of the rest were .38spl+p's. No cracks but I do look for one after every range visit.

Much easier to pick up the brass when all six shells are in a moonclip!

Think you picked up an older model as the new ones come in a plastic case... $900 or so if new?
