Classic Hunter 627-0 I've got a 627-0, so I don't think the pre-locks are that rare. I paid $388 for it (in 1990).

Congrats. I have two of these. Make sure the inside of the crane has the "E" stamp (if a -2 model). All the ones I've seen are being posted with an $800 asking price. $700 sounds like a decent deal.

Sorry, I had to dig them out of the safe to check. Yes, inside the crane is stamped 629-2 E. The "E" is a little ways over, so it was obviously stamped later.

I was re-arranging things in the safe and pulled out my P&R 66 snubbie with Ahrends cocobolo grips. I was still impressed at how balanced and "right" it feels in my hand! These are just outstanding revolvers.
