    Shield V Glock 43

I don't know. It might be. I never measured it. I rented the G43 at a range while I was playing with a suppressed G19, and I liked the G43 enough that I got one. I wasn't d too particularly concerned about the looks, and I didn't measure the bore axis. The stock trigger isn't great, so I...

    Shield V Glock 43

A lot of people making comparisons between the Shield and the G43, who haven't shot the Glock and don't own one. I've owned both. I still have the Glock. The Shield cracked and is no more. The Glock is still going strong. The G43 costs more. It's worth the difference.

    MP Shield .40 blowing up???

This wasn't ammunition related. Smith & Wesson made no attempt to state or suggest it was ammunition related. They simply stated that it wasn't a defect in their product. They refused to warranty it, tried to sell me a new one, and failed to return my pistol. When I spoke with S&W, I...

    MP Shield .40 blowing up???

I don't generally quote myself, but this post has aged, so to bring it forward to current; I received the letter from S&W today, advising that they won't honor their warranty. They stated the cracked frame isn't a defect in the product. No surprise there. I haven't found a case online of a...

Anyone heard of cracked frames on the Shield?

I received a letter from S&W today. It states: "After a thorough review, we have determined that the damage to this weapon was not the result of a defect in the materials or workmanship of the handgun. We do not recommend firing this firearm as it is not in a safe condition to shoot...

    MP Shield .40 blowing up???

A new .40 shield, no safety, cracked a few days ago while shooting factory ammunition. S&W has sent a return ticket. Based on what I'm reading, however, I have every expectation that Smith won't honor their warranty. It seems every other case I've read, they've kept the weapon and offered to...

Anyone heard of cracked frames on the Shield?

The case shown in the thread you referenced was another situation, and the firearm experienced no damage at the time. The cracked frame occurred on a new shield, less than 200 rounds, and the ammunition was factory range ammo purchased at the desk at an indoor range, Remington UMC 180 grain...

    Shield .40 ammunition failure

Yes; same case shown in post 1. Other than the failed case area adjacent to the feed ramp, it's bulged the same distance all around, a short distance from the end of the case. Sent into the barrel, the case fits into the barrel save for the last portion, which is bulged uniformly around the...

    Shield .40 ammunition failure

Given that the case is bulged uniformly, preventing it from sliding into the chamber, it couldn't have fired other than out of battery. There is no question that the case ruptured, but the bulging is an even ring extending all the way around the case.

Anyone heard of cracked frames on the Shield?

No picture at the moment, but the crack is not in doubt, and extends between the trigger and the mag release button.

Anyone heard of cracked frames on the Shield?

I realize that this is an older thread, but I encountered it while searching for information on Cracked frames on shields. Mine cracked today while at the range, or at least, it had a number of malfunctions today. While researching the malfunctions, I came across a different thread on this...

9mm Shield fails to fire last round

I had a problem today with my .40 Shield that sounded very similar to the one described in this thread. We determined that the trigger draw bar was pushing to the side intermittently, causing the problem, but couldn't see anything that might cause it. After reading this thread, I checked and...

    MP Shield .40 blowing up???

Mine didn't. It was HMR. I posted the pictures here. Sounds like mine, except that the pistol wasn't destroyed.

The Shield with Big- Dot XS Sights

I have a number of firearms with X/S sights, both handguns and long guns; I'm not a big fan of the big dot, but the standard dot is great. It's got good contrast day or night against light or dark targets. Today the Trijicon HD works very well in that regard, too, and is an excellent choice...

Hidden Hybrid Holster for Shield with Crimson Trace LG 489

I don't have that holster, but I do have a couple of CompTac Minotaur holsters; one for a P239 and one for a HK45C. The sidearm stays put with the clips I use. I'm not a big fan of the metal ones in your picture. I've had those kind of clips slip right off the belt and had holsters squirt out...
