bobbed hammers
just real happy to have something to offer to the room of all knowledge smith & wesson. i have #2386xx and it has the bobbed hammer as well. i've seen a few offered online with this modification and posted the question here as well. seems likely that either the pinching or...
bobbed hammer
my 22/32 hft #238639 has the same hammer modification. while i was shopping for it i saw several others like it. i posted a question here quite some time ago if anyone knew if this was a fad thing or whether the hammer might be hanging up on the flour sack when they went to "yank...
my 1917 era 22/32 has a groove cut in the frame to allow for some black powder residue buildup ( a manufacturer holdover as it was described on this forum). it may not be flame cutting at all. i use standard velocity or less.
i was visiting an aunt last week and thought to get a serial # off a k-22 she has. i told her i could ask here about age & whether its a sought after variation. looks early K3034X. nice gun , it has high back? magnas, blue mostly there but with some odd pits that feel like grains on sand.
yep thats it and i misspoke in my first thead about a pierce sight (i meant paine)the paine sight on my bekeart has concave radius fore & aft of the bead where this one has convex radius. maybe two types of paine sight? gee i guess it wasn't a stupid question huh?

picture it...... an elderly man & wife go to the station to see if they can identify property after a break in. the old man speaks up right off "HEY, THATS RRRRR'S "
ac, just shot mine (238xxx) today after calling it a day turkey hunting. mine has the pierce sights also and they are just the thing for fine work in the field.
yeah ray thats probably the deal here too but i saw it in his hand and bells went off. if it is a s&w it won't mean much to me, just fun. it would probably end up back with a gun of grandpas. though not sure how much he likes his brother in law. i emailed him a link to the photos & haven't heard...
