Question about .338 Lapua vs. .50 BMG and pumpkins

While watching the new USA series "Shooter" last night, I watched a .338 Laupa round go right through a pumpkin, leaving a small entry hole and a considerably larger exit hole. I remembered seeing a .50 BMG completely destroy (blow up) a pumpkin previously, so of course I was off to youtube to...

What's the best product you ever owned?

Call Buck. They will fix it, and likely for free. I called about replacing a blade on my Stockman that I repeatedly told the customer service rep I had broken while using it as a pry bar. 100% completely my fault. They replaced it free, sharpened all blades, cleaned and polished the case, and...

    Finally, a K frame snub!

Nice. I have a 2" 10-5 and a Victory model that someone cut down to 2". They just feel so much better in my giant paws than my J frames.

    Scope mount - Remington 742

I have a Remington 742 in .30-06 that is drilled and tapped for a scope mount. I have no idea if this was factory or if a previous owner did it. Any idea what kind of mount I need?

Chiappa M4-22 .22 LR AR Carbine vs 1522

I bought a Chiappa .22 upper for an AR lower, but I haven't fired it except for a couple of CB loads. If the hammer on your lower has a notch cut out at the top, it won't hit the firing pin on the upper. Other than that, the fit and finish seem good. I like it a lot better than the Mossburg 715T.

    No spring turkey for me...

At least one? Before the tragic boating accident, I may have had more than my share. ;) Love the 500. Every once in a while, one can be found used in the $200 range. It would be hard to find a better value.

Confusing call from the school nurse re eye test

I would take him to a pediatric opthamologist. Once you nail down the problem (or lack thereof), a yearly checkup at the optometirst is probably fine. You don't let the oil change guy rebuild your transmission, so I wouldn't let the school nurse diagnose vision problems, either.

    The first snake of spring.

Last copperhead I killed was beheaded with a shovel. It was the closest thing at hand after I found out he had crawled under my pickup to help me change the shocks.

Anybody tried the 7-Up "10" products?

I used to drink 6-8 cans of Diet Dr. Pepper. Now I've switched to tea, which in another thread I learned will also kill me. I haven't tried the "10" products, but if they taste like regular, I'll pass. After years of drinking diet, regular is just too sweet for me.

    Avoid Excess Tea Intake

I'm in a similar boat. I used to drink 6-8 cans of Diet Dr. Pepper a day. That stuff is bad for you, so I've switched to 2-3 quarts of unsweet tea a day. I use the Luzianne cold brew tea bags, which are supposed to make a quart, but the Nalgene bottles I make it in only hold 22 ozs., so it's...

3 Dealers Arrested for Gun Thefts at Tulsa Show

I'm in that building several times a year, and I find it troubling. It's owned by Tulsa County, and I believe they installed the video system, not Wannamacher. It will be there during the Auto Show this weekend, during other gun shows, during the State Fair, during the Home & Garden show...

Would You Buy a Gun Just For An Interesting Serial Number?

Like a 640-1 that has "357" in the SN? That wasn't the only reason I bought it, but it certainly ups the cool factor.

I think my '97 Crown Vic is finally broke in!

If you want to ditch the old man vibe, buy a BMW. I bought a 2001 740iL a couple of months ago. 181,000 miles, $1850 (yes, I stole it). It's like Carroll Shelby got ahold of a Town Car. Yes, you're driving your living room down the road, but it will cruse comfortably at speeds far higher...
