Hah! I have exactly the opposite problem. Been shooting revolvers so long that I completely let out the trigger reset on my XD, even though 1/3 of the way will do.
?????????????
Tedious? A few gentle swipes is enough. Other wise you risk damaging the works.
My 617 had MAJOR burrs on every side of the rebound housing. I think I had it stoned smooth in less that 5 minutes.
Tedious is when you are still at it 4 hours later.

I think your Stinger problem is the same problem as shooting 357's AFTER shooting 38's.
The short regular 22's leave a deposit in the cylinder. When you follow up with the Stingers, the longer cases fuse to the deposits.
TRY THIS: Clean the gun. Then shoot the Stingers in the clean...
I think it was some time in the 80's, S&W made about 600 model 60-1's with target sights. I paid a premium on BG to get mine. I can't see regular sights, so, it was worth it. If you can live with steel (blue), model 36 and 37's with sights are more common.
My 3:
1. 686 for IDPA and Home Defense.
2. 617 for cheap practice.
3....... J frame. (Mines a 60-1 with target sights).
Sometimes the 686 is a bit much to slip into your bathrobe pocket.
...not a target gun. I assume you're looking for a 2 inch? My pinned 60-1 comes from a run of 600 back in the 80's. I paid a premium for it on gunbroker.com. My eyes are just too old for regular slotted sights.
