How do you shoot? Iron sights, Red Dot, Scope or Laser

I was wanting to know what your preferred method of shooting your 15-22 and the reason why.

Are you a fun-n-gun type or slow and steady between shots?

I go back and forth between the RDS and Laser while at the range. I tend to take my time with the RDS and get as tight of a grouping as I can, whereas the laser I just try to stay on target as best as possible. The laser cutting through the gunsmoke at an indoor range is very cool!

I use irons on my 15-22 to practice fundamentals, red dot on my 5.56 for quick accurate shots, and sometimes the BUIS on the 5.56 for long distance.

Eventually I am going to build a precision upper and throw a scope on it, but that is a long ways away.

If I want to shoot for accuracy I shoot the Iron Sights. When I want to see how fast I can shoot, I go with the RDS.

With the 15-22, I chase soda cans and junk around the range so a 1x red dot is ideal for me. 1x red dot is also a blessing for those of us with aging eyes that don't focus well on iron sights. I have a laser that's fun but I don't use it as much as I thought I would. In the early evening it's fun to see the beam stretch across the range.

Irons for accuracy, dot for speed and fun.....the beauty of co-witnessed sighting systems.

I'm going to get a PA 1-4x on QD mounts for the next gopher season. Thinking about selling my "precision" 10/22 because with what I use it for, the 15-22 can do it all.

I have started with the iron sights by watching endless videos on youtube to get mechanical 0 and I am ok when shooting at 25yds.

I switched to RDS and since I shoot lefthanded, it's hard to hold the red dot center without it moving while I shoot standing up. I have both eyes open and left eye dominate.

When I am sitting down and shooting from table works perfect.

I shoot lefty too due to poor vision in my right eye. However I'm right handed, so supporting the rifle isn't a problem. The rifle is so light that a little extra weight out front makes it more stable IMO.

Did you move your safety to the right side? Does this do anything for a lefty?

I shoot irons only right now(Magpul back ups that came stock with the rifle). Have been for over a year since I started shooting. I believe anyone starting out should learn to shoot well with iron sights before moving on to any optics. Hell, if anyone needs a scope, it's me! I'm near-sided and have been putting off getting rX lenses for my shooting glasses :o Can't really see my target but I can group em pretty well regardless!

Oh and I'm a steady and show shooter for the most part. I'm limited to whatever the range rules which is usually "Wait a second between shots" although double-taps are okay. I'll either shoot really slow, taking my time or I'll shoot as fast as I can at an indoor range shooting at multiple squares on my target. Just started shooting the 4 corners and bull's eye of my target recently to practice multiple target aquisition . Fun! I plan on doing some kind of rimfire match

Occasionally use the MBUS only, but usually it's a red dot. I have a swing out 3x magnifier so at 25 metre distances I'll use the RDS/mag and at 15/10 metres (the stipulated firing distances at my indoor club) just the RDS.

I suffer from astigmatism, so when I'm just on the RDS, I'll still flip up the rear MBUS to pin hole the dot through the sight aperture.

Other than basic target practice at 25m (at which I'll shoot groups), main shooting is a series of timed trials at mini-man targets from all three range distances, so the quick swing and flip up sights are ideal for this.

Yep. It feels and operates 100% better. I could feel the lever on the inside of my trigger finger when it was in the "fire" position and it bothered me. Now it operates like it's suppose to.

What RDS are you using jrohan07?

BSA 30-mm Stealth Tactical Rifle Scope with Illuminated Red, Green and Blue Dot

Got with the 15-22 as package deal but would like to upgrade to an all in one scope, red dot, and laser. Don't think I need the flashlight.

Anybody use and all in one?

I use a holographic for 25 yrdS 50 above scope but I'm gonna throw on the iron sights to hone in my skills if you can hit it with irons every thing else is easy. Happy shooting make that x affraid of being on the target.

I use my Vortex Strikefire RDS at the local indoor range (25yards) and my Nikon Prostaff 3-9x scope at the outdoor range at 100 yards.

radar...

Just a little fun. I use optics on all my guns 'cuz I'm blind as a bat.:)

What grip is that and does the legs fold into the grip.
I want it.

I don't know the manufacturer, got it at gun show but I see them just about every gun show we have here. Yes, the legs go into the handle and there is a button at the top (by the rail) on the grip that you push and the legs are spring loaded for extension.
