Walt Disney Bans Sexual Offenders From Parks

I worked security for the largest defense plant (lockheed) for 35 years. 1965 to 2,000. If anybody had the latest trick stuff it should have been us. They even have divisions that specialise and contract it. So I have been out of it for 13 years now and I know there must be a mountain of new tech that I dont know about. Still, just how can people selling thousands upon thousands of tickets at a booth to the general public and about a third of those from a foreign country able to identify people with records especialy with a thousand people standing in line standing on one foot and the other waiting to pay a fortune to get in? I just dont buy it! Now they dont have tours in the whitehouse I understand, but I have toured the whitehouse in 1984 and they didnt even take your name! Who`s kidding who with that article? I did it for a liveing and dont belive they are or can do it!

I don't want to Hijack the thread but Imho ALL Sexual offenders should be strapped to Old Sparky then the switch should be turned on and left on for several minutes.

I also think there needs to be a second class of sex offender allowed... I was 18 once and had a 17 year old girlfriend that became my wife of nearly 30 years now.... But technically I could be labeled a sex offender for kissing her back then.

On the other hand I believe a sexual predator who goes after kids cannot be rehabbed. That is in their makeup. It would be akin to trying to convince me through therapy to be attracted to men instead of women, and that ain't gonna happen. ;)

I'd be all for it if it would work. However, I see several problems with this . .

1. Their ban is unenforceable, even if they knew every sex offender in the world.

2. With today's HIPPA laws protecting the privacy of all sorts of folks, how could they even assemble a legal database?

3. What defines a mental illness, according to laws, changes throughout the world by popular fads and trends that influence politics, and at the other extreme by authoritarian domination of subjects by powerful dictators.

4. Disney has led the way for promoting all sorts of special days for people with different sexual views that were at one time considered unnatural or perverted.

BOTTOM LINE . . .

By declaring the "Magic Kingdom" a "Sex-Offender Free Zone," aren't they simply trying to create a false sense of security, much like "Gun Free Zones?"

With a new false sense of security, IMHO their new policy seems to me to be created by the very types of people who like to molest kids in the first place!

Food for thought . . .

I gues I could go to Knotts Berry Farm instead.

Ahhhhh....Knott's. Memories of chicken dinners, berry turnovers, the haunted miner's cabin and chasing girls while in high school (when it was still free). Won't give my age away but I remember my dad getting lost in the berry fields all around there taking one of his famous "short cuts" home.

Word around these parts is that the "original" idea was to run off "kiddie-diddler" employees. Someone working 9-5 Mon-Fri (you gotta be upper management to get that shift, usually after 20 yrs) decided to "promulgate" that rule to cover everybody. Only rumors though. Joe

I'm thinking about the liability issues. Does this mean they are warranting their parks free from sexual predators? If God forbid, a child has something happen on a Disney property by a sexual predator who was not supposed to be there is Disney liable for not keeping him out? Do they now assume the duty of ensuring that the fiat is carried out? Same thing with gun free ones-does the proprietor assume liability and a duty to ensure the premisis is in fact gun free after having declared it so.
This is a very crass bit of grandstanding by Disney that may very well come back to bite them on the area where I had my colonoscopy. One of the conditions of any sexual predator release is they are not allowed around children-that means places where children go-like Disney parks. ANyobe in the criminal justice system knows this.
More importantly-does this mean that PeeWee Herrman can't go to Disney anymore.
Me-I'm meeting up with Sip at Knotts Berry Farm.

There are several problems with this one, not that I don't think its a good idea, heck I think if they want to try civil confinement there is plenty of room on the moon.
First this is only working with people who buy season passes, the guy at the gate paying for a one day pass if he is a sex offender will walk right in, and now that its in the local paper that's exactly what they are going to do.
Second, there are some guys on those lists who shouldn't be. I remember a guy who came in to jail a couple of times simply because he was 19 and his girlfriend was 16, and she told him she was older. After they broke up he was arrested because she went to her parents.
I can see a lawsuit coming with this because there are more people in high places calling for rehab for these people then jail, and unfortunately they're being heard. We just had a case recently where a sex offender had been let out of prison after serving seven years for molesting a 4 year old. The shrink said he would be fine and that he wasn't likely to re-offend. He made it one whole month on parole before abusing a 24 month old. My jail is full of the same sex offenders I have been seeing for nine years. Some re-offend simply because they get nailed for address changes. More than one has gotten a tent and set it up in the woods so they won't be found, one had just gotten out after 20 years and he was only caught because he was trying to lure a 4 year old and he ran in fear of his life when the parents and others tried to beat him afterwards.
At the same time these people re-offend there are doctors thinking they can be fixed. Most of us however think they should be fixed, but only after a trip to the vet.
