Is anyone having trouble locking the bolt on a bolt gun with this ammo? I bought a 325 pack and I cant close the bolt on my Remington 510 p rifle. It seems to function ok in a pistol --revolver auto & wheel gun. My 510 locks ok with any other brand. It is not a big problem. Just asking if anyone else has run into this. I have other ammo for the 510.

Federal 36 grain HP bulk packaged in 525, 550 and 325 cartridge boxes was fantastic stuff for 10 to 20 years prior to Obama’s first term. Unfortunately the lots I restocked my cupboard with in-between the first and second Obama ammo shortages is so bad I wouldn’t shoot in my better S&Ws if there was other ammo available to purchase. Every one of these newer bulk packs has had audible squibs and broad side hits at 50 feet fired through my S&W revolvers. Four bullets out of the worst 550 round box hit the ground short of 50 feet. I hope Federal gets their quality control back under control soon but there isn’t much to motivate them considering the worst they can manufacture sells faster than they can make it.

I have a few of the 525 and 550 packs and have not had any issues with that ammo.

I have shot this ammo in 3 different Browning T Bolts as a Charles Daley 22 bolt gun. We have never had any problems with it. I also have shot it in a S&W 22A and Browning Nomad. I used it to squirrel hunt with last season. This ammo is our go to ammo when hunting season comes in. We have a BRNO number 1 and number 2 as well as a new Ruger American Compact to sight in this year. We will see how these rifles like this ammo.

Thanks for posting. My 510 will drill holes. The bolt will just not close with this ammo. I tried to close real hard & it will close but it will screw up something. Maybe that is why it shoots so good.

OK I finally measured the rim & it is .002-.003 thicker than the other ammo. It is Federal Auto Match 40 gr. solid. Nothing wrong with the way it shoots --just wouldn't close in my 510p. Thanks --Box is stamped --IDEAL FOR SIMI-AUTOS--I never knew in 50 years there was a difference.

I have used the Fed. Auto Match 40 gr. solid .22 LR ammo in a variety of firearms, mostly a S&W 18-3 as well as Ruger 10-22's. Function has been excellent. The 18-3 normally must be brushed at about 100 rds. to remove fouling from the cylinder. With the Fed. AM .22 LR ammo, one can fire an entire 325 rd. box w/o brushing, etc. It is very accurate in my firearms. Fouling is very light. Perhaps that is the reason it is thought to be ideal for semi-automatics.

What I was asking was in a bolt gun.

I forgot to add that I just bought a used CZ 452 Target/Varmint 22 that I will be shooting this ammo in as well. If it ever warms up, I will be out shooting. If I have any trouble, I will post it in this thread.:) The reason I use this ammo is because it runs really well in our 1522's. It also works real well in the bolt actions too. I have heard that the CZ's have a tight chamber so it will be interesting to see if it works in the 452.
