Does any stores sell heated cashew nuts anymore?

I loved the kiosk

They put the little island with the nuts and candy in the middle of an aisle and I loved to walk past there, because the warmed items smelled SO good. And the little scale they weighed stuff on.

The last time I was in the "Big Apple" you could get them from vendors on the streets especially around Midtown. And also the world famous "dirty water hot dogs". Both are EXCELLENT!

Here in Iowa, all the Ben Franklin dime stores had the hot nuts and that salty aroma was the first thing that hit you in the nose as you walked in. If I remember right, Wall Drug in South Dakota still has this in one of the stores .

Not only do cashews have a lower fat content than most other nuts, approximately 82% of their fat is unsaturated fatty acids, plus about 66% of this unsaturated fatty acid content are heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, similar to those found in olive oil.

..and I love 'em!!

I remember JJ Newberry store 50+ years ago had them for 10 cents a bag seemed like a 1/4 lb. Tastiest stomach ache I ever had every Saturday morning.

Kresge's five and dime stores had them a long time back, and Sears also had them. There was also a department store chain, Grant's, that had them, too.

We still have a few stores that sell them at one time all the drug stores sold them, they would put them in a small wax paper bag, the only stores that still do it are stores that sell just candy.

The nut part grows on the bottom of the cashew apple, unlike a regular apple where the seed is inside...

I remember the times I would go shopping with mom to the Rich's Department Store in downtown Atlanta. That was the one on both sides of the street with a bridge across the street. The bridge itself was several stories high and had merchandise in it. But the best part was the candy/nut aisle. Rarely could I talk mom into candy but she would usually buy me some of the heated cashews. Usually after shopping, we would get something to eat at the lunch counter and I always got a BLT. Wow that brings back memories.

lots of the gas stations had them here. wt grant, kresges, sears, penneys, Montgomery wards, all had them years ago.

I remember. You could go to the five and dime or Sears or Monkey Wards and they had hot peanuts, hot cashews and hot potato chips right there in the candy section sold by the ounce to a pound or more. Those were the days my friend.

When I was a kid, a trip to Sears almost always included a stop at the candy counter. Mixed nuts were on a rotating tray under a lamp. Haven't seen one since the department store candy counters went away. I imagine one could be found on EBAY.

This makes me want to go down to the local F.W. Woolworth's five and dime store for some warm cashews.:)
