A Fuente Gran Reserva

If you don't have a leather punch handy, empty brass works real well, .22 to .38 or 9mm. You can sharpen the edge if you want.

I usually use a pocket knife, either to cut the cap off or to cut a "v" notch.

Arturo Fuente was my first go-to cigar...the 8-5-8 specifically.

It became a kind of tradition on Friday afternoons for a Cuban born city of Miami P.D. detective (on the bomb squad) and myself to go out and pick up a nice smoke to (hopefully) end the week with. (You'd think he'd avoid torpedoes.)

The nice thing about Miami was that if a shop was out of what you were looking for you could just head down Calle Ocho and pick up something that had just been rolled. A cigar aficionado's paradise.

The video above shows the Hemingway line by Arturo Fuente. Great smokes. One of my all time favorites. Actually not so much a torpedo shape as it is more of a figurado.

Snubby:

It has been years since I smoked cigars or indulged in tobacco at all. But when I was, I was also traveling a lot abroad. Everywhere else in the world, one can enjoy Cuban cigars. They really do make wonderful cigars. The only other thing that I thought was superior that hails from Coba is their rum. I still have a bottle of dark Cuban rum down at my camp only a short distance from where you hang out. It's late, or I'd swap cigar stories with you.

Best Regards, Les

That little Fuente isn't a torpedo it is a perfecto; and a darn good one. It is a Hemingway Short Story or Best Seller judging by the size.

BTW, cutting with the punch is A okay and you did it just right you just light the nub.

The Short Story is one my favorite winter time smokes. No cigars smoking in the house so in the winter a nice short 40-45 minute cigar is just right. They are box purchase worthy.

For a real treat look for a A. Fuente Hemingway Between the Lines. It is a little barber pole perfecto and way good.

Ok, so I just must be a numbers guy. It's the sailor in me. Absolutely nothing like sitting on the hook, an Arturo Fuente 858 in one hand, and a Bicardi 151 in the other. They compliment each other perfectly. I know this as thousands of man-hours have gone into this research!

WOW! I love cigars as much as anyone, but that Bacardi 151 can hurt you!

I've been working on making a "pocket punch." I've found that a 10mm brass will fit and wedge onto a .38 special brass. Just need to sharpen the .38 special brass so it'll cut a nice neat hole.

Thanks for the feedback.
