Maybe I am late to the party. Read they were decent guns but never paid attention, until yesterday.

The Canik display at my favorite gun shop expanded. It takes up three display cases and displaced the Smith & Wesson pistols. The shop says that Canik pistols outsell Smith & Wesson, 15 to 1 these days. Canik outsells Glock but by a smaller margin. None come back to the shop with problems. So, I put my hands on a few and they seem solid. Great trigger and decocker option on some models. I like a decocker for AIWB carry.

Anyone have long-term experience with this manufacturer?

I have no experience other than seeing the same thing happen at one of my shops. Supposedly they are very solid pistols.

Some people may not know what a Canik pistol looks like.

This is a video that I made over 3 years ago. I have been shooting several different model Canik pistols for over 6 years and have never had any problems with function or accuracy.

Luvsmiths, that’s because we have a much higher standard of living. The people building handguns are skilled laborers. They don’t work for low wages and live in poverty………. I prefer the American way.

A friend of mine likes to buy guns, then abuse them to the point of near-destruction. Says he just likes to see how long they will last. He had a Canik a couple of years ago that he finally gave up on. Said short of a blowtorch he just couldn’t make it quit. Called it “the AK of handguns.” I’ve never owned one but I consider that a pretty good recommendation. He’s still carrying that pistol today.

I bought a standard Canik a while ago--$299 with holster, mag pouch, 2 mags, etc. Was able to bget a couple more mags. I shot it for a few years in IDPA and USPSA until I read an article on the Walther Q5 Match and bought one of those.
The Canik is utterly reliable, accurate and a great trigger, so I keep it as backup. Shoots as well as the Walther, never had an issue with it and the Walther has gone back to the factory once. Very underrated gun that is now well accepted. I'd easily buy another.
My Canik is a tp9sf.

I have a neighbor with 5 of them. Each of them has been more impressive. They are solidly reliable, have very updated features that change almost as quickly as the market, a good variety of models for different market segments, great triggers, great accuracy, at prices roughly 40% lower than competing manufacturers.

I would go the Canik route if I was not so heavily invested in my customized S&W M&P’s.

The steel Caniks are CZ/Tanfoglio clones, and there's nothing wrong with that. The polymer guns (TP9 series) are reworks of the Walther P99 design. Canik have invested heavily in modern, mass production machinery and it seems to be working for them.

I have their 5" barreled 9mm TP9 and was a little concerned when I stripped it before the first range trip. The slide rails look awfully small, but that has been the way of things since the Glock appeared. I need not have worried. The gun is clearly way more accurate than me, with a good trigger and was 100% reliable. I was impressed enough to grab an optics ready variant that many already use in competition. That has an even better trigger, but I have yet to shoot it.

You'd be wrong about the vast majority of American gunmakers. Only Colt still has a union shop. Ruger uses mainly Manpower temps in Prescott from what I have read by a former employee. Why do you think most gun makers have fled south? Moreso for cheaper labor than any political reason.

I actually used a Canik TP9SFX in an Action pistol shooting sport event yesterday where we were shooting multiple targets and racing the clock. My friend lent it to me. I put two hundred shots through it without a hitch.
It held it's own against shooters with $2,000 race guns. It performed well, however it was limited by me ability!!
Incredibility smooth and out of the box it had everything but kitchen sink. It is a full sized pistol and has polymer frame and steel slide.
It has two magazines, an holster, mounting plates for a variety of shooting optics and is easy to dissemble and clean.

I found out that my friends Walther PPQ pistol he was using broke during shooting. He borrowed his wife's SIG 365 to finish match.
When the Walther was taken apart we found the firing pin tip had broken off. He remarked that he probably had shot 45,000 rounds sent it bought it new.

Bottom Line, I liked the Canik TP9SFX so much I purchased one. The Price out the door was $500.00.

Yeah, Ok. Go read the threads on Smith and Wessons that are being let out the door, and have been for years now.
Maybe start with this recent one ,and then the other few hundred you'll find on here describing the highly "Skilled Laborers" they employ these days. Ya know, the higher paid ones your talking about.
Problem with M&P 10mm + Customer Service Nightmare
Then go to McDonalds where the flippers get paid 18 an hour to serve slop. "The American way"!

Good luck with the American way. It became "Steal as much as you can from the suckers and then deny a problem"

Then try using Glock CS ( that is if you ever needed to, which is doubtful) and see how those low paid people treat you.

Remember those "Skilled laborers" at Remington...you know- the place that went Bankrupt and ruined Marlin Leverguns?

Who's making Winchester rifles these days? Do they work? Spoiler alert- Miroku- in Japan, and Yeah, they do work.

Yeah.... the American way. Beholden to the stockholders.

Wanna buy a nice Remlin?
