What do folks think of Canik?

Despite not having the service record or reputation of the Glock, the Canik is meh.

I would just stick with Glock that is "What Would John Wick Do".

Does the Canik TP9 and its derivatives have the service record of the Glock? No, but the Canik does have a way more comfortable grip frame shape and a vastly superior trigger. My TP9 SFL also came with Warren Tactical sights with a blacked out rear.

I myself don't own one , so I won't/can't say anything about them . Now if someone at the range had one and it shot better than my Target Champion PC 9mm 5in or 6in , I would definitely look at them . All I can say is if you own one and like it , great for you . If you don't own one or have never owned one , you don't have any skin in the game , as they say .

Had a Canik MC9 briefly. It was a great gun. It did not work well for appendix carry because of short barrel. Tended to tip out. That's not a gun issue. Just my personal preference. So, traded it for a Ruger LCR in .327 Federal Mag. Why? Well, not sure.

I have a good impression of Canik. It outsells Glock in some Charlotte-area stores.

Canik pistols are high quality and reasonably priced. Same with Girsan.
My problem is political -- during the Cold War the Turks were a reliable secular ally protecting the southern flank of NATO - now it appears that radical Islam is gaining political strength and they're not as friendly to us anymore. Ask any US military personnel stationed in Turkey.

Turkey is a NATO ally, and I'm sure you and others send more money to China than anywhere else. The device you're on now is also mostly from China as well. China isn't a NATO member, and they're currently funding Russia and other countries who are Americans and NATO's enemies. Then I'm sure no one here has a problem going to the gas pump to buy that Iranian oil or Russian oil (before the sanctions). I feel like a lot of the hate CANiK gets is more based in virtual signaling than anything else.

Turkey simply supports particular Muslim groups in their region who help further their interest NO DIFFERENT than how the U.S. has funded and given weapons to groups whom other countries consider to be terrorists organizations when it was in our best interest to do so at the time. Groups who later used those weapons to kill our soldiers. Heck, we left 7 billion dollars worth of military equipment and weapons in Afghanistan that's currently being used to kill Americans and our allies. Seems like the pot is calling the kettle black in this regard.

Most importantly, none of the stuff I just mentioned has a darn thing to do with CANiK because CANiK isn't a state sponsored corporation. It's akin to boycotting S&W because the American government supported terrorist and Mexican cartels or because they manufacture guns in the antigun state of Massachusetts.

Son got one and raved how good it was. About a year later I visited him and went shooting. Having been a Colt 1911 and S&W guy for 50 some years I was pleasantly surprised at everything about it, function and accuracy. Don’t expect I’ll buy one but if I needed another pistol would consider a Canik.

I don't own one...yet! I have fired a couple owned by friends, they feel very good, the quality is certainly up to par by any measure, and the ones I have fired seem to be extremely accurate and easy to shoot.

Even though I have a couple that are similar in many ways, a Mete MC9 is in my near future. :)
