I see a number of Tauri listed, of the PT99 flavor. I owned on too, and it was a great and reliable firearm, with the safety and the mag release in the proper locations. I recall reading that they had been built on Beretta machinery. A surprisingly good pistol!

Star Model 30M. Total sleeper. All steel, well made, and super accurate.
How many cases of 9mm thru it? Most Spanish handguns were meant for the nightstand and not a PPC or Combat Match. Never heard of any attendees at Thunder Ranch or Gunsite using one either.

You could say that many of the pistols suggested in this thread are more nightstand guns than competition or carry pieces.
Thunder Ranch and Gunsite concentrate on concealed carry. The size and weight of the 30M count against it for that kind of use, it's the same weight as a 1911. However, as a robust military sidearm, they meet the need. I have one and the later, 45 ACP Star Megastar (also available in 10 mm). They are both built like brick outhouses.
Two Sig P365XL's, one fully stock, one with a Primary Arms barrel and Holosun red dot. Both have Hogue grip sleeves.
Sig P365 for me - hands down.
Softest shooting 9mm CCW I've ever shot.
With 12-14 rounds in the mag (with Magguts kits installed) it is the most bang for the buck - and the most bang for its size - that I've seen or experienced...

By default, my favorite non-S&W 9mm would have to be my SIG P320 compact. It is the only non-S&W 9mm I own. It is reliable and reasonably (but not outstandingly) accurate. Its best feature is its superb factory upgraded trigger: minimal takeup, quick reset, and extremely smooth. It's a genuine treat to shoot. That said, I don't shoot it as a 9mm any more, as I have converted it to .357 SIG using a SIG Caliber X-Change Kit. I much prefer the .357 SIG round, and the only reason I'd go back to using my P320 as a 9mm would be if .357 SIG ammo disappeared.

There’s a large ad populuum logical fallacy inherent in citing what’s popular with attendees at Thunder Ranch or Gunsite. Both are also largely irrelevant to armed citizen self defense shoots.
I bought a Star BM the second time they were being imported in numbers. They were selling for around $200, and of course the chicken littles were wailing about lack of spare parts availability, so I bought a spare. It’s right sized for a 9mm for concealed carry, being slightly thinner in but better proportioned than an officer frame sized 1911. The curved back strap gives it excellent pointabikity and the bobbed butt is very concealed carry friendly.
And then I traded off an absolutely awful S&W .380 ACP bodyguard for a third, about 12 hours after I bought the S&W.
The thing is that I shot the bejeezus out of my primary Star BM and have never broken anything. Maybe it’s because I don’t abuse them with stupid things like 2000 round torture tests, and in fact clean and lubricate my handguns on a regular basis.

The Model 30 was used by the Spanish Military as their sidearm for a number of years. Like I wrote I had a Model 28, which was the forerunner of the Model 30. It was a very good gun. Better made and fitted that the majority of the 9MM pistols that I have shot. The only down side to the pistol now, would possibly be the lack of spare parts available if case something did break. Why was one not seen at Gunsite or Thunder Ranch? Probably because the vast majority of them were and are still in Europe. Read this and wish you owned one! Star Firearms — Models 28, 30 & 31 I still kick myself for selling mine!

My 1966 Browning HP that I bought in 1967. The factory barrel shot my lead bullet reloads well. In recent years I have been shooting it with a Ciener conversion unit, that has done wonders to smooth out the trigger.
Browning HiPower. No question.
I don't know anyone who doesn't love the grip shape.
No part is any thicker or wider than it has to be, especially the slide.
It carries a reasonable amount of ammo. And those magazines are also no bigger than they need to be either.
They work, and shoot plenty accurate.
I'd still be carrying one now if my eyes could see iron sights well enough. For that, I sadly have to turn to the soulless newer handguns and their ease of mounting a red dot.

Yeah, I've got a 3913 Lady Smith, and a 1968 P-35, the P-35 is OK, and I guess if I had to actually carry anything, the Lady Smith would do... but neither is as handy or accurate for me as that Sphinx.
