Has there been any more news or rumors of which no lock models will be offered in the future by Smith and Wesson? (Other than the model 10, 19, 36, and the Lipsey’s mountain guns)

SW insinuated that the locks were going away.
Unfortunately, there is no indication when it will happen.
I check their site almost daily now for updates.
There are several models I want to buy but won't until the lock is gone.
Come on SW, get it done.

They’ve done far more than insinuate…both their SHOT Show sales rep, and their head of revolver engineering have said straight out that all models will be no-lock going forward. It won’t be fast. They will certainly sell all remaining inventory before transitioning, and they will likely roll out the new models based in order of sales estimates, but they have said for a fact it will be happening.

Just my opinion but going from the iL to non iL should not require anything other than programming the CNC computer to edit out the process of drilling the keyhole.
Im guessing those parts have slots, pivot points etc inside and those milling drilling processes can also be deleted.
These should simplify production and lower the product cost to the factory as well since they won't have to make those parts anymore either.
I would imagine it might be prudent to purge the iL inventory first especially if they decide to pass the iL deletion cost reduction onto the customer.

I was at an industry show in Feb and the Smith & Wesson reps said that going forward (it may take a little bit of time) the lock will be deleted from all revolver models.

I own 12 S&W revolvers, 11 are from the mid 80's or older so they do not have the IL. The newest one is a recent product 642 also without the hole. There are several models I have wanted to buy, such as the Performance Center Model 19, but could not bring myself to do so because I can't stand the thought of owning one with the hole.

Lookup SW Performance center Mod 19 K comp.
Have a three inch 19-7 pre mim/iL K comp,

Be aware the area ahead of the fs blade has a port but it is enlarged and does not have rifled barrel so in reality you lose .5" worth of sight radius and barrel velocity but you do get the full length extractor rod which is the other big advantage of a 3" barrel vs 2.5".

Ps the pictured one above appears to have the yoke arm ball detent.

Not saying it’s better, but that’s the nice thing about the Model 66 Combat Magnum. The barrel is 2.75”, so a slightly longer sight radius and extra 1/4” of barrel for powder to burn, while also having a full length ejector rod. I believe it’s the shortest barrel length with the full rod.

AND restore the frame profile on the J and K frames to their previous curvature. The flattened profile on the lock guns is what really makes them ugly.
