Random Object Photographs

Visited Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Colorado, earlier today. The walking trails go past several petrified redwoods. One of the trees along the easy trail looks like a corkscrew. No idea how a tree twists like that, but there it is. You can also see Pikes Peak western side.

My wife and I did a ten-day 3368-mile trip from SW Minnesota to Portland, OR and back to SW MN. We stayed off the Interstate Highways as much as possible. The only roads we traveled that were the same going to and coming back were SD34 and US14 between home and Sturgis, SD.
Here are some random photos from my first time through Yellowstone National Park since 1978.

That's some beautiful country to drive through! Did you make it over Beartooth Pass East of Yellowstone? Beautiful drive, but may not have been open yet...

No, we didn't. We came in from the southwest through Gand Teton National Park and exited on U.S 14. The parking lots at all the usual stops such as Old Faithful and others were full and overflow parking along the roads, so we didn't stop for any of those.

We took a break from travel last year due to a little health issue my wife was having but hope to get on the road again later this year. We like to travel before and after summer travelers families are back in school.

For my job I collect a daily water sample and sometimes see some nice rail car artwork as I pass by. Not to condone it but you can't deny the skill involved.

When we lived in Reading, Ohio there were two RR tracks that ran across main arteries in the community. We often got held up by them but we got to see some spectacular artwork.
